18 are graduated at Graham: Eighteen graduates received their nursing diplomas during the 72nd annual Graduation Exercises of the Graham Hospital Association School of Nursing Thursday night. Melissa Lancaster of Canton received the Canton Federated Woman’s Club Award for Best All-round Student. Presenting the award to Lancaster was Mrs. Charles Williams, chairman of the scholarship committee for the club. The Edwards Award for Highest Academic Achievement was presented to Patricia Johnson of Cuba. The award, from Edward Greenfield, was presented by Richard Pierson, present owner of Edward’s, along with a gift certificate. The Edna S. Geiger Award for Leadership and Nursing Skills was awarded to an incoming senior by Charles L. Martin, Jr. chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Graham Hospital Association . Darlene Fitzgerald was the recipient. Thelma Dickerson, vice president of nursing at the Fort Sanders Regional medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn., presented the graduation speech.
