Wellness clinic sees major growth: The Health and Wellness Clinic of Fulton County, a free health clinic for qualifying Fulton County Residents, opened their doors on Fifth Avenue on July 14, 2010. At that time, Dr. Reter and his nurse, Gloria Stockman, saw two patients. This year on July 14, Dr. Reter and his nurse, Gloria Stockman, saw 12 patients. The clinic grew so much that it quickly outgrew its space on Fifth Avenue and is now located in the former Coleman Clinic building at 175 S. Main. The clinic now has over 200 active patients. There are 11 volunteer medical providers, 14 volunteer nurses and 20 volunteer receptionists. One of the patients volunteers to clean the clinic and two gentlemen volunteer as handyman and computer aide/photographer. Becky Gorham, Physician’s Assistant with Graham medical Group, and her nurse, Mary Ann Duffield, will be joining the volunteer staff in August of 2011. The Health and Wellness Clinic of Fulton County offers free primary medical care for Fulton County Residents between the ages of 19-64 who do not have any medical insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Worker’s Compensation, Veteran’s Benefits or Social Security Disability and who meet our financial requirements. The clinic is able to get free or discounted prices for some medications and some medical tests for their qualifying patients. Dee Zaborac, Clinic Director, notes that this very successful year would not be possible without all the volunteers that keep the clinic running and the donations from local churches, organizations, and private individuals who help keep the shelves stocked with medical, postal, paper and office supplies. The clinic receives no federal or state grants and is run solely on donations without which the clinic would not exist. Anyone wishing to make a donation, want to volunteer or see if they qualify to be a patient can contact Dee at 309-649-0048.
