Mrs. Stevenson dedicates Canton trauma facility, by Don Hopper: Mrs. Adlai Stevenson III, wife of the U.S. senator from Illinois, said local cooperation was the main ingredient which made possible the new trauma center at Graham Hospital. The center was dedicated yesterday. She said it will take continued cooperation among doctors, nurses and ambulance personnel to make the center work to best advantage. She said her husband is proud of the trauma center system in the state. She said he recently made a speech in the Senate describing how Illinois is leading the nation in establishing such a network among hospitals. She presented a plaque to Hermann Raster, president of the Graham Hospital Board of Trustees, dedicating the trauma center. Dr. David Boyd, chief of emergency medical services and highway safety in the state Department of Public Health, said the trauma center concept was developed in Chicago and it is now copied throughout the nation.
