Friendship is supreme: When Friendship Festival queen hopefuls meet! These lovely ladies really were “getting to know each other” when they met for the first time recently at a “Coke” party. This informal photo shows them checking the agenda and looking at photos of past hopefuls and making plans! Becky Lester and Lynn Slaughter enjoy the chatter and laughter prevailing of this nice, informal get-together. Their happy smiles reflect the joys which are ahead for all the hopefuls. Vera Follings is happy to take a break from her “jack of all trades” work at the Graham Hospital where she “floats” from office to office helping out in any way she can. She is the candidate for the Knights of Columbus and will symbolize friendship with her charming personality. Judy Jarvis, Lydia Kuhn, and Karlabeth Dennis pass the plate as they nibble and drink and talk. (Almost got Beth McLouth’s hand, complete with pretzel, in the act!) A very pretty miss is Patti Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bell, Fairview Heights. Patti anticipates her Chicago trip and her fun times in getting acquainted with the other contestants. She is the Rotary Club candidate. We caught Vickie Phillips, the Cuba Business and Professional Club’s entry between “acts” at the Playhouse where she was appearing in “Music Man”. Vickie played the lead in last year’s production of “South Pacific”. Beth McLouth serves Donna Berglund and Jackie Burns some refreshments as they learn to know each other better!
