Air Team Trainer Scot Manna Crowned
ACDelco Technician of the Millennium

Convention was held October
26-29, 2006 in Las Vegas,
drawing nearly 6,000 people for
the f ina l phase of the four-pa r t
comp e t i t ion. Havi ng na r rowe d
down the final contestants to eight
technicians f rom al l over Nor t h
Amer ica, Scot Manna, the owner
of M&B Automotive, Inc. in Des
Plaines, IL took home the grand
prize valued at more than $40,000,
including trips to the Bahamas, an
appearance package for his shop, a
new General Motors (GM) vehicle
and a commemorative trophy.
Taking almost one full year to
complete this competition, there were
three phases prior to the final in Las
Vegas. In phase one, ACDelco’s Total
Service Support (TSS) technicians
from all over North America registered
to participate in the contest with the
requirement of validating their ASE
certifications in Brakes and Electrical.
The i nd iv idu a l s who f i t t he s e
requirements then took an online exam
in phase two. The top five scorers from
each of the eight regions were invited
to phase three of the competition – a
hands-on regional competition. The

eight regional winners were then flown
to Las Vegas for the final phase of the
competition where they competed in a
timed, hands-on skills contest where
they were judged on professionalism,
speed and accuracy.
Congratulations to Scot on being
crowned the 2006 ACDelco Technician
of the Millennium!
The Air Team warmly welcomes a new trainer to the program, Ken
Zanders. A valuable addition to the team, Ken was previously a
part-time instructor for Triton College in River Grove, IL. He is an
ASE Master Certified Automotive Technician with L-1 Advanced Engine
Performance Certification as well as a member of the Council of Advanced
Automotive Trainers (CAAT). In addition, Ken has had extensive training with
various OEMs and has obtained Master Certification through many of their
programs. Ken is a committed instructor striving to give something back to the
automotive repair community.
