Appendices A, B, C & D
This photograph shows the geosynthetic components utilized in final closure for landfills such as
Settler's Hill Recycling and Disposal Facility in Batavia. First the clay layer is constructed, and
then the geomembrane is installed on top of the clay, followed by a geonet drainage layer to
convey rainwater away from the liner. The filter fabric prevents the drainage net from becoming
clogged. A soil protective/vegetative layer is then placed on top of the filter fabric.
