Scouts Bi- Cent Jamboree
Last weekend at 107th and
Lombard, Chicago Ridge
Girl and Boy Scouting groups
braved miserable weather to
put on their Bicentennial
Jamboree. ' The scouts
pitched their tents on Fri-day
evening and camped out
through Sunday.
All of the scouting organ-izations
in the area display-ed
and demonstrated their
scouting skills and crafts.
Highlighting the Jamboree
was the demonstration pro-vided
by the Kings Royal
Eighth Regiment, an authen-tic
American Revolutionary
War British Unit, that has
adopted Chicago Ridge as
their base for drill and
practice meetings. Resi-dents
not attending the event
may have wondered what the
gun and cannon fire was all
about. This was part of the
regiment's demonstration,
which included their en-campment
with wives and
children dressed revolu-tionary-
day garb.
Scouting organizations
participating were Boy Scout
Troop 351, Boy Scout Troop
665, Cub Pack 3665, Neigh-borhoods
Council of the Girl
Scouts of America consist-ing
of Ridge and Worth Cad-ettes,
Girl Scouts and Brow-nie
Troops.
The Bicentennial Com-mittee
extends their thanks
to the Chicago Ridge Police
Department, who did an ex-cellent
job; the Chicago
Ridge Fire Department, who
were standing by in case of
an emergency, and most of
all to James Dolan, Park
District Superintendent for
his help and cooperation
during the entire Jamboree.
