The Jordon Shoe Store was owned by Mr. Charles Jordon, a native of Palermo, Italy, who immigrated to the U.S. at the turn of the century. Mr. Jordan and his family were long-time Libertyville residents. The shoe store was opened in 1914, and Mr. Jordon operated it for 45 years until his retirement in 1959. He passed away a short time later in 1961. This appropriately named tavern was located across the street from Cook Park in the store front just north of the C. H. Kaiser Building at 412 N. Milwaukee Avenue. The same location later became Mickey Finn's Brewery. In the 1950s it was operated by Mr. Archie W. Foss, a prominent Libertyville resident for 29 years. Born in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, Mr. Foss came to Libertyville in the 1920s and originally established himself as a contractor. Later he joined the Libertyville Fire Department where he served for 23 years. At the time of his death in 1954, he was the fire department's chief engineer, as well as proprietor of the Park View Tavern.
