At the time this photograph was taken, Ray & Sons was located at 709 N. Milwaukee Avenue, just north of Lake Street. The old Town Hall can be seen on the right.
In 1926 Lloyd C. Ray began selling insurance in addition to real estate at Diamond Lake. Lloyd's sons Russell and James joined their father in the business; Russell eventually chose a career in law but James stayed on in the family business. In 1968 Ray and Sons formed a partnership with George Boehm's Libertyville insurance agency to become Boehm & Ray (source, Independent Register 4/2,3/86). The Daly Studios, at 711 N. Milwaukee Avenue, offered classes in Tap, Ballet and Character, as well as instruction on all musical instruments by "university trained faculty."
