To all to whom these presents shall come - Greeting:
Whereas, It appears from a return made to the Auditor of Public Accounts, by William
McBride School Commissioner and Agent for the inhabitants of Randolph County, that
in pursuance of the several acts of the General Assembly of the State of Illinois,
authorizing the sale of Sections numbered Sixteen, or such land as may be granted in lieu
thereof for the use of Schools, the said Commissioner did, on the Seventh day of
September Eighteen hundred and Forty sell to Zina Osborne of the County of Randolph
and State of Illinois a certain lot of Land, lying in the County aforesaid, being part of
Section numbered Sixteen granted by the United States to the State of Illinois, for the use
of the Inhabitants of Township number Four South range, number Five West of the Third
principal meridian for the use of Schools, known and designated on the map of the said
Section as made by the Trustees of School Lands, within the said Township, as Lot
numbered eight (8) containing Forty acres by survey and that the said Zina Osborne has
paid to the School Commissioner Three Dollars and twelve & a half Cents per acre for
the said Lot of Land, the price at which the same sold.
In consideration whereof, the State of Illinois does hereby grant, bargain, sell, and convey
to the said Zina Osborne the Lot of Land aforesaid, with the appurtenances thereof:
To have and to hold, the same unto the said Zina Osborn and to his heirs and assigns
forever, in fee simple, as a sure, perfect and absolute estate.
In testimony whereof, I have caused these Letters to be made patent, and the Great Seal
of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand at the City of Springfield this
Tenth day of June AD 1841
