Linda Helle has been selected as December student of the month at Graham Hospital School of Nursing. A junior, she has made the Dean’s List with a 4.0 grade-point average. According to the Student Commendation Committee, she is “a kind and compassionate” person. She currently holds the office of junior class treasurer and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa sorority at Spoon River College. A July 1986 graduate of the Spoon River College practical nurse program, she decided to continue her education by entering Graham this fall. By being accepted as an L.P.N. advance placement student, she was able to shorten her actual school time from three to two years. She said, “The school offers a well-rounded program. The location was what originally attracted me, but once I began, I was impressed with the attention you, as an individual, are given. The clinical experience received at Graham could not be better. The instructors all are eager to teach and are continually looking for ways to improve the students’ learning experience.” After graduation, she would like to specialize in obstetric nursing and eventually obtain her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She lives with her husband, Ed, and daughter, Shauna, in Smithfield.
