Citation:
For meritorious service as a Machinist's Mate on board the U.S.S. NORRIS during operations against the enemy in the Korean Theater during the period 23 August 1950 to 7 February 1951. He accomplished difficult repairs to vital operational equipment frequently and displayed exceptional mechanical ability, determination, and perseverance. His professional competence, leadership, tireless persistence, and competence contributed materially to the success of his ship in carrying out assigned missions. His zealous devotion to duty throughout reflects great credit upon himself and the U. S. Naval Service.
