Red Cross Appeals for Blood Donors
"Imagine school kids gathering scrap—ain't that a laugh?''
The three unpopular figures sketched above won't have time to laugh when school children in Proviso township enter in full stride the Scrap Drive that has begun. The cartoon, penned by Jim Hicks, Proviso high school student, shows the part these young men and women of today are playing in supplying the steel furnaces of the nation. If these mills fall one per cent below maximum production, that percentage represents thousands of tons of steel, armor- plate, tanks, guns, grenades denied to men doing the actual fighting. Roll up your sleeves and show some scrap.
