HERALD
Mercury Downs Maywod in Heat Battle
(See page 3)
ETERNAL FAITH OF THE SOLDIER, as prevalent now in a world dotted with solemn white crosses as it was when a threadbare little band huddled together to protect themselves against the harsh winds of Valley Forge, is exemplified by Lt. Glen Dittus. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dittus. Sr.. of 1013 South 9th avenue. Maywood. as he sings before the congregation of the First Presbyterian church, 5th avenue and Pine. A member of the church since childhood. Lt. Dittus was the regular soloist until he joined the signal corps two and a half years ago. He leaves today (Thursday) for Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, after spending a 15-day furlough at home.
