A V-Home refuses to spread Axis rumors. "Don't be an unwitting Nazi agent," cautions OCD. "If it's a secret, keep it; if it's a rumor, kill it!" Refusal to spread Axis propoganda is one of five qualifications of a V-Home. Your air raid warden or block leader will tell you about the others. Make yours a V-Home! A V-Home conserves—but does not hoard—food, household supplies, volatile liquids such as gasoline, and other vital materials, "Hoarders," says OCD, "are on the same level as spies." Conservation is one of the qualities of a V-Home; consideration of others in your community is being American. Attend food clinics, learn to serve less in quantity. Make yours a V-Home! A V-Home conserves health. Your family's health is precious—and valuable to the nation. Guard it carefully as part of your duty as a participant in this total war. Conservation is an element of the Office of Civilian Defense V-Home pledge. Home nursing courses are being offered to residents of Proviso Township because doctors are needed in service. Make yours a V-Home. Buy wisely! Wartime is no time to indulge that secret yearning for a race-track plaid. Real conservation starts with thoughtful planning and careful selection of all purchases. "Buy the least you have to get and get the most from what you buy," says OCD. Oonservation is one of the qualifications of a V-Home. Ask your air raid Warden or block leader about the others. Make yours a V-Home. A V-Home follows the air raid precautions recommended by Proviso Township defense councils. Are you still turning out lights or fussing with blackout makeshifts when the air raid warning sounds? Have you an emergency room for you and the children? Attend an OCD meeting; sign up now if you have failed to do so before. What you learn will help make your home a V-Home. A V-Home salvages materials needed for war production. Search closets, attics, and basements for scrap rubber and metal. Keep these spaces cleared of trash to protect against fire, both from fire bombs and from carelessness. Housewives should save tin cans, as the nation faces a critical shortage of this metal. Explosives can be made from salvaged grease. Make yours a V-Home. Illustrations Contributed by Gluyas Williams.
