SLOW, SMOOTH RHYTHM and the jumping jive are equally popular when the Bethel gals and DeMolay fellows gather together with their friends for the weekly Saturday night dance held at the Masonic Temple, 5th avenue and Oak street, Maywood. Pictured as they are making ready to glide across the floor to the lilting notes of a juke box are Pat Bruggemeyer and John Ward, master counselor of DeMolay. Herb Weltler and "Bobby" Staup are looking on. Because the young people of the community wanted something to do, the local Bethel and DeMolay organizations decided to band together and sponsor weekly dances throughout the summer months. Mrs. Bertha Walquist, 1116 North 12th avenue, Melrose Park, guardian of the Bethel group, and William Goersmeyer, 2012 South 12th avenue, Maywood, associate guardian of Bethel, chaperon the affairs. Mickey Benson is honored queen of Bethel. The dances, held from 8 to 11:30 p.m., are open to the public.  Admission is 25 cents.
