The Christmas Star made by Loran Lilly, which won a first place blue ribbon at the McHenry County Fair this sumhfier, was donated to Huntley's First Congregational Church for use on their manger scene.
Prize Winning Star Placed On Congregational Manger

My name is Loran Lilly. I am a 5-year member of the Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club. I noticed that the First Congregational Church, last Christmas, had no star for their manger. I decided to make a
star for my woodworicing project, and I entered it in the McHenry County Fair this summer. I received a blue ribbon (a first place). I would like to explain the different symbols on the star and what they stand for.

Luigi's Pizzeria hosted Cub Scout Wolf Den Pack 167 of Huntley from the First Congregational Church on Wednesday, December 14. Each Cub was shown how to make his own small pizza, choosing his favorite ingredients and baking it to perfection. Huntley Supermarket Hosts Tour

Brownie Troop #586 of MarengoAJnion, led by Mrs. Rose Boyd and Mrs. Debbie Duthom, got a behind-the- scenes-tour of the Huntley Supermarket Tuesday aftemoon, the 13th of December.
From the bakery department to the meat department, from the compactor to the computer, the troop was able to see how a grocery store is run inside and out.
Have you ever peeked behind the milk cartons to see who or what is in there? Now these kids know!
Karen Allen, the "tour guide', answered questions and volunteered information
after the tour while the kids had milk and cookies.
One of the main attractions was the walk-in freezer where the frozen goods are kept The coolers and freezers are all on a backup electrical system armed with alarms in case any of them fails.
Also of interest to the youngsters was the recycling compactor, where cardboard boxes are crushed under 2000 pounds of pressure, and then bundled together to be recycled.
When asked if they had fun the troop enthusiastically replied. "YES!"
