You will be asked to cast your vote for candidates running for ofHcials of Grafton Township, Village of Huntley President as well as Trustees, Park and Library Board members, and issues concerning the Huntley Fire Protection District. If you have recently moved to the Huntley area or have changed your name or address, you must be registered 30 days before the General Elec¬ tion Day of Tuesday, April 20. There will be a Voters Registration Day, Saturday, March 13, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Huntley American Legion. You must be at least 18 years old and a current resident of Grafton Township to vote in this very important local election. GET OUT AND VOTE! Voter registration for Huntley area residents will be held this Saturday, March 13 in the old Huntley Supermarket building from 9am to 1pm. To register to vote you must be 18 years or older, a U.S. citizen and provide two (2) forms of identification. The old Huntley Supermarket building is located in Huntley Center on Rt. 47. Huntley Village Board Considers Farm Annexation, Ordinances, Property Fill Violation —^— The Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Huntley was held on Feb. 11, 1993 in the Board Room of the Village Hall and called to order by the President at 8:00pm. Roll noted present: President Dhamer, Trustees Russ, Sheehan, Borowicz, Gow, Hoeft and Becker, as well as Village Administrator Nelis, Village Engineer Blecke, Police Chief Rossi and Public Works Director Schwartz. Also attending was Mr. Bohdan Hirniak, representing Prime Group. The President, as the first item on the Agenda, called for action on the following minutes of the meetings held in January: - Special Meeting, Jan. 8: After review, Trustee Gow asked that paragraph 9 of page one reflect 26S0 acres rather than 2800 as written. Thereafter, a motion was made by Trustee Sheehan to accept these minutes as amended, seconded by Trustee Becker, roll noted all ayes and the motion carried. - Liquor Commission Meeting, Jan. 14: Motion was made by Trustee Gow, seconded by Trustee Russ, to approve same, roll noted: Russ, aye; Becker, aye; Borowicz, pass; Gow, aye; Hoeft, pass; Sheehan, pass and Dhamer, aye. Motion carried. - The Jan. 14 Regular Meeting Minutes: Trustee Russ, after review of same, made a motion to approve as presented, seconded by Trustee Becker, roll noted all ayes and the motion carried. - It was noted that the Jan. 28 Special Meeting minutes were approved at the Feb.2 continued on page 7 Support Huntley Business Shop Locally!!! Huntley Science Fair Winners Announced By Joyce Liput The months of preparation finally culminated in the annual Huntley Jr. High Science Fair Tuesday evening, March 2. Mr. Mahaffy, the Junior High science teacher, did an outstanding job planning, organizing and supervising this year's Science Fair. Students waited and worried until their turn came to be judged. Once judging was completed they could relax and demonstrate their projects for the parents and friends who came to examine the results of all the scientific research and experiments. Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for-- the awards presentation. The following eleven top scoring students will present their projects on April 3 at the Regional Science Fair in Dekalb. Matt Drufke and Scott Dvorak, worked together on the Effect of Soil Types on Plants. Megan Borhart presented the Expansion and Contraction of Various Materials. Karina Wych used mice in a maze to demonstrate Animal Psychology. Amanda Sartell and Jodie Scheele worked jointly to demonstrate Animal Psychology, using Photo By Barb Schmidt Molly Oldham, Karina Wych, Megan Borhart, Bryan DeMambrum, Jeff Essig, Jodie Scheele, Amamda Sartell (1 to r. Front Row), Scott Ruth, Becky Weber, Elisha Garza, Erica Ibeling, Matt Drufke, Scott Dvorak and Katy Beth (Back Row) were chosen Tuesday evening, March 2, at the annual Jr. High Science Fair, to represent Huntley at the Regional Science Fair April 3 in Dekalb. hamsters. Scott Ruth showed Effects of Deforestation on Planet Earth. Katy Beth's experiment compared the Effectiveness of Detergents. Bryan DeMambrum presented the Effect of Heat on Growing Crystals. Erica Ibeling displayed the Effect of Light on Plant Growth. Molly Oldham presented Pyramid Power on Plants. Jeff Essig offered consumers information on Popcorn Popping. Elisha Garza and Becky Weber worked together on the Effects of Gender on Memory. In an effort to suppliment the usual supply of teachers and parents acting as judges, Mr. Mahaffy called on area businesses. As usual, the community responded with judges from Huntley Floral, American Investments, The Huntley Farmside, Union Special, Robinson Industries, Flowerwood Nursery, Althoff Industries, Northern FS, Inc., Sage Products, Inc. and The Northwest Herald. Thanks to all of them. Huntley Village Board Meeting Agenda Announced There will be a meeting of the Board members of the Village of Huntley on Thursday, March 11, at 8:00pm in the Village Hall, 11704 Coral Street, Huntley.
