Huntley Town Picnic 2000
HOW does one sum up the annu¬ al Huntley Town Picnic for the year 2000? Putting it simply and perhaps best: good weather, good food, good music, good crafts, good fun and most of all, good company. Some went home with door prizes
f donated by area businesses. Some
went home with a treasure made by an area artisan.
Some went home stuffed with the vendor's best in picnic goodies. Some went home with a sunburn. But every¬ one went home with memories.
There are many ways to say a good time was had by all, but since a picture is worth a thousand words, look inside for this year's photos and see if our intrepid photographer Joyce Liput didn't catch someone you know in the act of partying at the picnic...

Doctor has eye on new clinic
Huntley physician plans to convert old library into new office hy October
Dr. Kenneth Melchionna, eye physician -and surgeon of Simpson Eye Associates, acquired the old Huntley library at an auction held by the Huntley Library Board.
The library was the first gov¬ ernment building simultaneously auctioned online and in person. Dr. Melchionna was in attendance to make the winning bid.
The 1,500-square-foot brick building, located at 11260 Algonquin Road, sits on 1.1 acres.
Simpson Eye Associates plans to have the library converted to an eye clinic and expects to be welcoming patients by October of this year.
Future plans include adding an eye surgery center at the site.
"We are very proud to put down roots in Huntley," Melchionna said at the auction.
"Our practice has been serv¬ ing the community for more than half a century and we believe in maintaining a hometown feel at all of our locations. The old Huntley library embodies the past, rural character of this rapidly developing village and I had my heart set on making it our home.
"Hopefully, this new location will make patients' visits more convenient, closer to home."
Simpson Eye Associates is located in West Dundee and Crystal Lake.
