Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week will be observed October 6-12 in the United States. "The Great Chicago Fire" on Oct. 9,1871 and its memories make us realize what can happen when fire gets out of control. This tragic conflagration killed 300 people, left 100,000 homeless, and destroyed more than 17,000 structures.

HFPD Holds Fire Drill At Huntley Factory Shops
The Huntley Fire Protection District held a training drill for M.A.B.A.S. Divisions 2 and 5 at the Huntley Factory Shops last Sunday.
Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (M.A.B.A.S.) is a Predetermined Mutual Aid System that runs throughout Northern Illinois. The response drill was setup to meet five objectives for Huntley    and    Mutual    Aid

Fire at Huntley High School
The Huntley Fire Department was dispatched at 2:46 am last Tuesday morning in response to an automatic fire alarm at Huntley High School.
When the First Engine Company arrived they encountered flames and smoke coming out of the south window of room 111. The First Engine Company put out the fire right away. There was lots of overhaul and ventilation done to remove smoke from the

Tom's Plans Fall Festival of Fun
Once again, Tom's is having their Fall Festival of Fun starting with this weekend, Oct 5th and 6th, and continuing every weekend through Oct 27 (weather permit¬ ting). The Festival activities will also be open on Columbus Day, October 14. Festival hours are Ham until 5pm.
There will be pony rides, hay rides through the fields, face painting, and a Giant Pumpkin Jumper. Wander through Tom's Straw Maze Kingdom and piles of pumpkin or pet the farm animal. Also,  stock  up on  fresh  fall

Village Plans Hydrant Flushing
The Village of Huntley Public Works Department will be flushing fire hydrants from 11pm on Thursday, Oct. 3, to 7am on Friday, Oct. 4, weather permitting. Flushing hydrants may stir up sediments in the water supply. The water is safe for drinking, however, for 24 hours after flushing, please avoid doing laundry or other cleaning.
Village Board Votes to Ease Ban on D Trucks
The Village Board voted last Thursday to ease the residential parking ban on trucks with "D" license plates.
The ordinance currently in force bans the parking of trucks with any plate other than "B" in any residential district The applicable portions of the current ordinance regarding use of residential parking areas are as follows: "The parking or storage of trucks, trailers or other vehicles...are prohibited on private parking areas accessory to residential use or in any residential district with any plate other than Class 'B' license plate...The parking of trucks or trailers or other vehicles prohibited under this section shall be permitted if the truck, trailer or other vehicle is being temporarily used in conjunction with a service, delivery or pick up actually being rendered for the benefit of a residence or real estate in any residential zoning district.
The proposed amendment will allow trucks with "D" plates to park on residential streets so long as they weigh no more than 12,000 pounds.
This ordinance will be enforced in response to complaint.
