Village breaks ground for treatment plant

On Fri. Jan 5, the Village of Huntley broke ground for a new water treatment plant.

Huntley Public Works offers mailbox notice
A large number of Huntley mailboxes have been damaged or knocked down during snow removal by the Public Works Department this winter. After some investigation, the department has found several reasons for this problem.
1. Improper installation of mailbox
2. Improper maintenanceof mailbox
3. Snow rolling out of snowplow striking mailbox
4. Snowplow driver mounting curb, striking mailbox with plow.
The Village will only replace or repair the property owner's mailbox if the damage was a result of #4, a snowplow driver mounting curb, striking mailbox with plow. Damage caused by any of the other three situations is the responsibility of the property owner as covered in the Village of Huntley Subdivision Ordinance, section 1:12(a). Copies of the Northern Illinois District Curbline Mailbox Regulations can be picked up in the Village of Huntley Building Department for proper installation of mailbox.
Huntley Penguins plan membership meeting

The next membership meeting of the Huntley Penguins Snowmobile Club will be held on Tues., Jan. 16, 1996 attheHuntley American Legion Hall at 8:00pm.
The Penguins are always looking for new members to join the club. The membership fee is $25.00 a year, and the club requires proof of liability insurance. The club is family-oriented and encourages young people to participate in club activities.
The club has a full calendar of events depending on snow conditions, it plans poker runs, a ladies' day ride, family outings, Sunday brunch and Friday fish-fry rides.
By joining a club, members will learn the proper rules of snowmobiling. Most of the land in this area is privately owned. These private land owners have allowed the
club to build snowmobile trails across their property. This permission is for trails only, and snowmobiling anywhere else is trespassing.
The club builds, marks and maintains these snowmobile trails for members' convenience, asking only that its members follow the club's rules. Some of these rules are: no snowmobiling without sufficient snow (trails are closed unless there are four or more inches of snow on the ground), staying on all marked trails, not trespassing on owners' private property and keeping cS of openfields, staying away from private buildings, keeping the noise down, never cutting fences, and protecting small trees. Members must display a club trail permit decal. Snowmobiling is a privilege, not a right. The only snowmobiling allowedintheviUagelimitsofHuntiey
is riding from one's residence to the nearesttrail. SnowmobiUng on public sidewalks, streetsand private property is prohibited. Town residents can purchase a city snowmobile sticker that will allow them to ride from their home to the nearest trail. These
stickers are available at the Huntley Village Hall at the price of $3.00 per machine.
