By Beth Berndt The latest business to come to Huntley broke ground on Monday, July 22, along Kreutzer Road, just south of town. Graves Spray Supply, Inc. bought the land two years ago after interviewing several businesses to decide if Huntley is where they should build. They are merging their two business locations, currently in Addison and Rockford, and settling in Huntley. "We want to be involved in helping develope this area", said Rich Dietz, President of the company. Graves Spray Supply, Inc. is a Sales and Distiibution Center for industrial spray equipment for paint fmishing systems, liquid and powder coating. The company currently employs 15 people but within 5 years plans to have 20 employees. Kenneth Lindberg of Wauconda designed the 10,000 square foot building with 2500 sq. ft of office space and 7500 sq. ft. of ware¬ house. Bakley Construction of Huntley will be preparing the ground for construction, AL.B.S. Construction Corp. of Arlington Heights is the builder. The company hopes to be finished with construction by October 31. Huntley Girl Tours Europe With Children's Choir By Tracey Schwartz "It was really fun and I won't ever forget It," was Jeanette Marquis's summation of her tour of Europe with the Elgin Children's Choir last week. The 12-year-old Huntilian left Chicago July I2th for Germany with 49 other area young singers and chaperones. In Frankfurt, Germany the group joined six other choirs from the midwestem United States for sight- seeing and rehearsals. During the week they gave four performances in Germany, Switzerland and France. They toured the Black Forest, Rhine Falls, Strasbourg, France and many other attractions. Jeanette raised about SI,000 toward the trip since last September through the choir's fundraising programs. They included bagging groceries at Cub Foods, washing cars, and selling ad space in the choir's concert programs. Jeanette, daughter of Tom and Jeane Marquis, has completed her fourth year with the Elgin Children's Choir and performed in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with Donny Osmond in Chicago two years ago. She will begin 7th grade at Huniley School this fall. Dawn Ellison of Huntley was appointed Postmaster of Capron, Illinois on May 11, 1996. An installation ceremony was held in Capron on July 10. Acting Post Office Operations Manager, Bill Allind, administered the oath of office to Dawn as husband, Kevin and daughter, Katy, held the bible. Thirty-six friends, family and postal representatives were in attendance. Dawn began her career as a city carrier in Park Ridge in 1987 and was promoted to Supervisor of Mails and Delivery in Crystal Lake in 1988. She was Officer in Charge in Hampshire, Illinois for nearly a year. She has held the position as Acting Superintcndant of Postal Operations in Crystal Lake until her appointment to Postmaster. A commemorative stamp plaque was presented to the Village of Capron on Dawn's behalf. Judy Benson, Village ttustee, "is happy to see an experienced manager at the helm of Capron's Post Office after years of temporary posunasters." Getting a Postmaster with long term assignment in Capron was something Vice President, Doug Meyers, "really pushed for" and "it's finally a reality." A National Flag was flown over the White House on May 11, 1996 in Washington D.C. in honor of Dawn's appointment. Dawn graduated from the Huntley school system. She is the daughter of Al and Alice Jordi. County Fair Begins July 31 The McHenry County Fair starts this Wednesday, July 31 and runs through Sunday, August 4. The Fair is held at ihe McHenry County Fairgrounds located at the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and Bull Valley Road in Woodstock. (In depth coverage on Fair events begins on Page 4.) Sidewalk Sale at Factory Shops It's Sidewalk Sale Days at the Huntley Factory Shops, Manufacturer's Factory Outlets. The Sidewalk Sale will be held Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28. The Huntley Factory Shops are located at the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and the 1-90 Tollway.
