HFPD will sell its Station #2 located at Rt. 47 and Dean Street.
HFPD to Sell Station Two

The Huntley Fire Protection District has decided to sell its Station 2 located at Dean Street and Rt. 47. The decision conies after careful consideration by the fire board members of issues including the decreased frequency of train traffic through Huntley, its close proximity (1/2 mile) to Station 1, and its major function over the last three years which has primarily been storage.
Station 2 was put in service in 1986. The property was purchased for between $80,000 and $100,000 according to Fire
Chief Dave Veath. The fire district built the existing building. At the time the building was stubbed for bathrooms because the Village of Huntley was planning to extend water and sewer service to the property. However, the extension project has taken place yet.
Veath says for the last three years Station 2 has been ba.sically used for storage of a reserve engine and a big tanker. Recently both of those vehicles have been sold. According to Veath all of the district's emergency calls have responded out of Station
1 because all firefighter bunker gear is located there.
HFPD Board President Joe Gow says, "It was a good idea at the time that was never followed through." Gow says that the board wants to be proactive to the changing needs of the district. He feels that the district can sell Station 2 for over $200,000 and no longer maintain unnecessary property. Veath stated it simply,"Times have changed ... the trustees have to look at what is best as far as cost effectiveness for the district."
Huntley Jaycees Plan Fundraiser To Aid Abdullai Family	
On Friday, Feb. 11, 1994. the Huntley Jaycees will be hosting a fundraising event for the Abdullai family.
As you inay recall, the Abdullai family lost their home and a five-year-old child in a tragic fire two weeks ago in Huntley. In an effort to assist the family financially the Jaycees arehosting a special fundraising event, this Friday, Feb. 11.
Many activities will be taking place on Friday evening at the Bowl-Hi Lanes, located on Routes 47 & 62, in Huntley. Two bands have donated an
evening of "Alternative Style" music for your entertainment. Performing live will be "The Charging Hoses" and "Holiday In Hades", (formerly "Catch- 22"). The Bowl-Hi Lanes have donated a Nine Pin No Tap Tournament for all interested participants. The Jaycees will be holding a raffle to distribute donated prizes, and as always the Spare Time Sports Bar will be open for your entertainment purposes. Huntley Lions To Restore Boy Scout Cabin

The Huntley Lions Club plans to use a memorial donation to restore the old Boy Scout Cabin located in Deicke Park in Huntley. The cabin, which was built in the early 1920's, is currently closed off from public use because it is structurally unsafe. The club plans to restore the cabin to its original condition and make it safe for public use.
The $1,000 donation from Mrs. Edwin Deicke in memory of the late Charles Lamb, has been put into a fund set up
at State Bank of Huntley. The Lions welcome additional donations to the account or other donations of time, materials or equipment for the restoration.
The Lions are currently in the planning stages of the project and are discussing options with Huntley Park District and McHenry County Historical Society.
