Huntley Chamber forms referral benefit

The Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry would like to announce the formation ofa new member benefit.
The Network Marketing Referral Group was formed at the end of June. To date, there are 20 registered members. The purpose ofthe group is to providequalified referrals for members, share effective business ideas and suggestions, and help
promote the spirit ofbusiness ethics.
The board for the group consists of Joanne Prondzinski of Classic Forms, president; Bemice Bakley ofHuntiey Travel, vice-president; and Jim Henry of American Family Insurance, secretary/treasurer. The Chamber would like to thank Bemice, Jim and Joanne for their commitment in starting the group.

Huntley artist donates Log Cabin painting
Local artist. Marge Tures, recently presented Chuck Yerke, president of the board of commissioners of the Huntley Park District, and Bob Tures, vice-president, with a watercolor painting of the log cabin located in Deicke Park. The cabin was refurbished by the Huntley Lions Club and volunteers last summer. Marge is a participant in the park district's watercolor class. Her husband, Jack Tures, sen'ed on the board of commissioners for 16 years. Bob is a second-generation commissioner. Those interested in participating in the watercolor class can call the parkdistrict office at 669-3180 for more information. The class is for all stages of artists. Instractor Theresa Darby teaches on an individual basis for each participant.	
Parkside Volleyball: Exciting Huntley pastime

For the better part ofthe summer, Parkside Tap has hosted a sand volleyball league of local teams.
Teams play under the lights on Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights, competingagainst teams made up of local businesses and groups of friends.
"It's just something that's really fim for the adults in Huntley to do," said Cindy McDonald, owner (with husband Mark) ofthe Parkside Tap. This season, 11 teams participated in the league, including teams sponsored by Huntley Travel,
H.S. Crocker, Clasens, Parkside, PR. Parrot's, Custom Graphics, Gary Weiss Landscaping, and Woodstock Sanitary. Other independent teams include the "Fruitcakes," "Road Dogs," and "Caped Crasaders."
Spectators watching the games quickly get the feeling that many team members are not playing to win - they're just having a good time. "We really enjoy playing here," said Sharon Andersonof theH. S. Crocker team, who affectionately call themselves "Half-Crocked," due to their infrequent wins.
"We're the better-looking, less competitive team," she said.
Team captain "Wild Wayne" came up with a politically-correct description of his team ~ "We're 'wiimingly-challenged!'" he said.
Anyone can watch the games, which take place behind Parkside Tap, located on Main St. across from the square. Teams begin play around 6:30 and end at 9:30.
For interested volleyball players, Parkside is sponsoring a 4- Man Slam voleyball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 12, for men and women. The team fee is $50, with cash-back prizes and a free pitcher ofbeer. Teams can call 669-84% to pre-register.
