Huntley Banking Center Donates Prize Pig to Grafton Food Pantry
Huntley High School Homecoming "Only Time Will Tell"
For the second year The Huntley Banking Center has purchased a pig from the McHenry Co. Fair, 4-H auction and donated the meat to Grafton Township Food Pantry. On October 1st Brenda Curry, Assistant Vice President, of the Huntley Banking Center delivered the packaged meat to the Food Pantry for distribution.
It is the efforts of individuals, clubs and business organizations that make the Grafton Township
Food Pantry possible. Many need families benefit from these donations and the Food Pantry appreciates all contributions. The Food Panu-y is located at 10109 Vine St. Huntley. Hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday 9am-2pm.
The Grafton Township Food Pantry would like to thank the Huntley Banking Center for their generous donation.
Young Eagles Flight Opportunity
Chapter 790 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is offering the chance for young people between the ages of 8 and 17 to take a free airplane ride with an experienced pilot. The Young Eagles program was introduced by the EAA to introduce young people to the joy of flying. In this program, each child has the chance to go for a short flight, as well as learning something about the plane, etc. Each person who takes part in a Young Eagles flight will have their name entered into a log book at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The goal is to take
1,000,000 young people for a ride in a plane by the year 2003, which is the 100th anniversary of the flight of the-Wright Brothers. To take part in this program, you can go to Lake in the Hills Airport at 8407 Pyott Road on Sunday, October 19, from 9:30am until approximately 1:00pm. A parent or legal guardian must sign a permission form, which "will be available on the day of the flights, or you can pick up a form beforehand at Blue Skies Pilot Shop at the airport. If you miss this one, there will be more "Young Eagles Days" next year.
Huntley "High School Homecoming 1997 kicks off this week with a Powder Puff game on Sunday, October 5.
The Homecoming parade will be held on Thursday, October 9. It will start at 1:30 pm at the South elementary School; the route will be as follows: Lincoln Street to Main Street to Church Street to Mill street and ending at the North Elementary School.
On Friday, 0';tober 10, the Fresh/Soph and Varisity football teams will take on Richmond. Fresh/Soph game begins at 5:30. The King and Queen will be crowned at halftime of the Varsity game. Also, the winners of the Homecoming Float, Homecoming Banner, and Overall Spirit Competitions will be announced.
The Homecoming Dance will be held in the Cafeteria at the Harmony Road Campus on Saturday, October 11, from 8 to 11 pm.

Blood Drive Oct. 15th
Heartland Blood Centers announces the following blood drive open to the public during the month of October: Huntley, Wednesday, 10/15/97 from 9am- 1pm at Huntley High School 12015 Mill Street.
Heartland requires 300 donations daily to provide an adequate supply of blood and blood products to patients in 34 northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana hospitals.
Donors must be 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds and be in good general health. The entire process takes approximately 45 minutes and one pint of blood can be used to treat up to 3 patients.

Hoeft Named First Youth Director To Illinois 4-H Board of Directors
Tim Hoeft, of Huntley, IL, has been appointed the first Youth Director   to   the   Illinois  4-H Foundation Board of Directors, representing the Northeast Region of  Illinois.   The  Illinois  4-H Foundation Board of Directors, decided that in accordance with the new Illinois 4-H Strategic Plan and    in    response    to    the Chancellor's Commission Report, that it was important to have the viewpoint of youth on the State 4-H    Foundation    Board. The Youth Directors' selection process included application, recommen¬ dations and interviews. The Youth Director from each region is a Board   member   with   voting privileges, and also works with a "leam"  of other 4-Hers  from throughout their region to bring views and opinions of all 4-Hers to   the   Board   of   Directors meetings.
The Illinois 4-H Foundation provides financial enhancement to the Illinois 4-H Program. The Illinois 4-H Foundation plans publicity to support their fundraising efforts and special event activities. The Foundation is preparing to begin a new corporate campaign effort. Tim Hoeft has accepted a position on the Finance Committee and will be working with another Board member, Mrs. Louise Rogers of Crystal Lake in making corporate presentations.
Tim is presently a senior at Marian Central Catholic H.S. in Woodstock. Tim is a nine year member of the Huntley Harvester 4-H Club, having served in numerous offices. Tim is also a Grand Ambassador in McHenry County. We look forward to Tim's input during his three year term as an Illinois 4-H Foundation Director.
