Frances Sheets Official
Frances Sheets is one of over 125 official delegates to a regional meeting on libraries and information policies in the years to come. This meeting, which will be held at Harper College in Palatine, October 20th, is one of nine meetings in preparation for a national White House Conference to be held in July 1991.
At this meeting, Frances Sheets will be representing the category of: Library Trustee. This meeting will be important in maintaining libraries in the future in their role in the quality of life in Illinois and our local communities.
The purpose of these meetings is to establish a
consensus on policy issues for libraries and for public access to information. It will be the basis of Illinois planning for the rest of this century - as well as the platform for an Illinois
delegation to Washington in 1991. The issues will be developed around the themes of information for literacy, productivity and democracy.
Ground work for these regional conferences this fall was laid at a three-day meeting held in Chicago last April. Over three hundred delegates, roughly balanced to represent the general pubHc, government officials, librarians, and library trustees, participated to set out specific concerns.
President Dhamer called the Public hearing to order on September 13, 1990 for the purpose of hearing the Wing Pointe application for Annexation to the Village of Huntley. Attorney Kukla advised that the petitioner was to give the presentation first and then the public could be heard at that time.
Attorney James Militello, attorney for Mr. Alan Ludwig of Ludwig & Co., gave a summary of the proposed area, being 208 acres on the East side of Huntley along the Huntley-Dundee Road, showed the area by map and by property zoning and that which the petitioner expected to build on each zoned area.
All fees had been agreed upon and Planning and Zoning had approved of their petition.
Afterwards, Attorney Kukla called for the public to comment.
Carolyn Schachtner: questioned how the Board could only consider one portion of a Comprehensive Plan not yet in place. Attorney Kukla advised that at a former meeting, the Planner had verbally given the approval for this type of plan at that area. She asked about an unbuildable portion of the area. She was assured that soil analysis had been made and if it were unbuildable, the builder would not build.
