Bob Kunde Honored for 25 Years
Huntley Firefighter Bob Kunde was honored by the Huntley Fire Protection District Board for his 25 years of service to the community. Pictured above, left to right: Trustee John Mini, Trustee Ed Hartmann, Treasurer Jeff Homuth, Bob Kunde, President Maynard Williams, and Secretary Larry Graf.
At their regular monthly meeting last Wednesday evening, the Huntley Fire Protection District Board recognized Firefighter Bob Kunde for his 25 years of service. They presented Bob with a chrome-plated, engraved Fireman's axe and a proclamation that read as follows: HUNTLEY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE Wheras, service to their fellow man is the prime commitment made when they take their oath, and
Whereas, this oath is to save lives, protect property, and help those less fortunate, it is then that these men/women commit themselves to a task few will accept; and
Whereas, it is only fitting and proper that their fellow members recognize them for this
commitment and unselfish willingness to help when and where needed; and Whereas, this recognition will be given on this 25th Anniversary of your service to the residents of this the Huntley Fire Protection Disuict for your services; and Therefore, it is hereby resolved that Firefighter Robert Kunde, a twenty five year veteran of the Huntley Fire Protection District, be commended for his dedication to his fellow man; and be it further
Resolved, that this recognition be granted by the members of the Board of Trustees of the Huntley Fire Protection disuict on this Mth day of May in the year nineteen hundred and ninety seven. Memorial Day Parade Planned
Vehicles and floats are needed to be in a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26th. The parade will proceed from the American Legion Home to the cemetery for Memorial Day service.
Line up North of the Legion on
Woodstock Street by 10:00am. No pets please. The parade will leave the Legion Home at 10:30am. The service should start at the cemetery approximately at 11:00am.

Sidewalk Sale This Weekend
Huntley Factory Shops will host a mall-wide sidewalk sale Thursday, May 22 through Monday, May 26. Stores throughout the center will bring out their end-of-season merchandise at lower than the akeady low outlet prices.
A live remote with Heidi Stem, evening personality from WTMX 101.9 FM radio will be held in the food court on Saturday, May 24, from 2 to 4 pm. Heidi will be at the Huntley Factory Shops to meet and greet customers, give-a¬ way prizes and to involve a live audience during the remote broadcast.
Heidi is the host of "ReUo '80's At 8", an exclusive show that features the hottest music of dance clubs. Heidi's show airs from 7 pm to midnight on weekdays.
Huntley Factory shops is located at the intersection of 190 and Route 47, just south of Huntley. Huntley Factory shops features more than 50 manufacturers' outlet stores offering discounts off suggested retail prices. Amenities include an enclosed food court, children's playground, ATM machine. Free parking and stroller use.
Huntley Factory Shop hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am - 9 pm, Sunday 11 am - 6 pm.
Poppy Day May 23

The Huntley American Legion Auxiliary will be having Poppy Day in Huntley, Friday, May 23, 1997. The 1997 Poppy Day slogan is "Poppy - A Flower Of Remembrance".
Let's show our appreciation to our veterans for their services given, by proudly contributing and wearing the POPPY on May 23 and again on Memorial Day.
The proceeds donated through he Poppy Day Programs are used to provide for the disabled veterans, hospitalized veterans, widows and children of the veterans through the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitations and the Children and Youth programs.
We kindly ask our Huntiey area citizens, young and old, both to show honor and respect again this year by contributing on Poppy Day, May 23, 1997.
Community Against Gangs Golf Day
Huntley Area Communities Against Gangs Golf Outing paired teams of youngsters with local policemen and firefighters. Pictured above are Fire Captain Kevin Ellison and Police Officer John Ciombor with their teammates Abbye Eiklor and Kourtni Drougas. (See story on Page 3)
Blondie's Red Hots Grand Opening
Blondie's Red Hots, on Route 47 in Huntley, celebrated its Grand Opening under new ownership, last Sunday, May 18.
