SERVING THE PEOPLE OF HUNTLEY SINCE 1960 Wi^t Mnntltv Snvm^iht USPS 580-360 THURSDAY January 9,1997 - VOLUME 36, NUMBER 39 - HUNTLEY, ILLINOIS TWENTY-FIVE CENTS On Tuesday, November 5th, the voters of the Village of Huntley agreed to adopt Division 2.1 of Article 10 of the Illinois Municipal Code. This resolution provided for the appointment of three Police Commissioners, to be named by the Village President with the consent of the Village Board. On December 19, 1996 at the Board meeting. Village President Jim Dhamer's appointments to the Police Commission took their oath of office. Village Clerk Denise DeBartolo is pictured above giving the oath of office to the new Commissioners. Pictured from left to right are: Commissioner Phil Freund, Village President Jim Dhamer, Commissioner Joe Kaltwasser, and Commissioner Jim Waters. Huntley Police Commission Board Agenda There will be a meeting of the Police Commission of the Village of Huntley on Tuesday, January 14, 1997 at 7pm at the Village Annex Building at 11221 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL 60142. The Annex Building is handicap accessible. AGENDA: Election of Chairman for the Police Board Election of Secretary for the Police Board Adoption of the Police Commission Rules and Regulations New Business Adjournment HFPD Keep The Wreath Red 14 Years and Counting! By Capt. Wiesneth Congratulations, residents of the Huntley Fire District! You have "kept the wreath red" for fourteen consecutive years. The Keep the Wreath Red campaign is a program where a holiday wreath (on display at the Huntley Fire Station) stays brightly lit with red lights unless there is a seasonal decoration related fire. For each seasonal fire, a red light is replaced with a white light. The wreath is hung on the fire station so that all residents know if we have had a fire safe holiday. Keep up the good work, not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the New Year. Ice Rink Vandalism at 01' Timer's Park Huntley Park District's ice rink at or Timer's Park has been vandalized so many times this year that it most likely will be unusable for the rest of the season. Park District personnel are doing their best to salvage as much of it as possible so that, if weather conditions are right, some of the rink may be used. Damages have cost taxpayers over $700. If you see vandalism in any of the parks, please call the police, or the Park District office at 669-3180. Recycle Your Christmas Tree For FREE Huntley Park District is sponsoring a Christmas Tree recycling program again this year. The trees will be chipped and used for mulch in Huntley's parks Trees can be brought to Deicke Park (minus lights, ornaments, tinsel and icicles please) and placed by the Log Cabin. The Park District will also be collecting Christmas uees from tfee banks in Huntley on Mondays and Fridays. This program continues through the month of January. For more information, call the Park District office at 669-3180. Casual Fine Dining has arrived in Huntley. Owners Drago and Barb Zgrabljic proudly display the menu of the Water Tower Grill which features steaks, seafood, pasta, soup & salad, mouth-watering baby back ribs, and more. Huntley's newest restaurant is located in the Huntley Center Shopping Plaza.The Water Tower Grill Grand Opening runs from January 9th through the 15th.
