McHenry Coimty Airport Sites
Residents firom the Huntley-Union area filled the McHenry County Board Room last Tuesday night to hear a report to the Citizens Advisory Committee on a proposed McHenry County Airport.
Originally, the committee considered 10 sites in the county. The study also included parts of Walworth County, Wis., and parts of Kane and Cook Counties, Dl. The firm studying the proposed sites have narrowed the originally ten down to four, three of these in the Htmtley area. Sites F, located at Square Bam Rd. and the Algonquin blacktop, site G, located north of Huntley on the west side of Route 47 south of Conley Rd., and site K, located in. Coral Township off of Route 20 near the Bonnie Knoll Subdivision. The fourth site B, is located 2'/] miles west of Woodstock city limits on Kishwaukee Rd. Site B had the most favorable reccommendations in the survey with a 67.70 in comparison with F with 53.5, G with 61.14 and K with 57.8.
The purpose of the airport will be to provide landing space for airplanes other than commercial airliners or military. The proposed airport would be used for business purposes in the McHenry County area.
Federal money will be used to pay for the proposed McHenry County airport and according to a spokesperson will not place a burden on McHenry County taxpayers. The next meeting is planned for August 16th at 7 pm. Ilie location for the next meeting has not been set at this time.
Village Board Minutes
The regular meeting of the Huntley Village Board of Trustees was held at 8:00 pm on July 3,1985 Lon the vUlage hall. Present were President Dha¬ mer, Trustees Berlin, Brown, lAhrens, Wicke, and Zimmer¬ man, Village Attomey Szura, and ViUage Engineer Schwegel.
President Dhamer called the meeting to order. Minutes ofthe previous meeting were approv¬ ed as presented (Wicke moved, Brown seconded, unanimous). The treasurer's report was also approved as presented (Wicke moved, Ahrens seoonded, unanimous). Bills for the current month's expenses were examined and approved for payment with the following exceptions (Wicke moved, Berliia seconded, unanimous): Leitherer's Body Shop will be tumed over to the insurance company: Autotrol and Harms Grain will be held for more information. A bill from D&Z Transfer in the amount of $43.75 was approved separately by roll call vote-Berlin moved, Ahrens seconded, Berlin, Brown, Ah¬ rens, Wicke all aye, Zimmer¬ man pass. A reimbursement to Jacqueline Berlin for purchase of commemorative gifts for past President Enstrom and Oerk Hardy in the amount of $52.94 was approved for payment also by roll call vote-Brown moved, Zimmerman seconded, Zimmer¬ man, Wicke, Ahrens, Brown all ayes, Berlin pass. The board approved the transfer of $18,6%.91 from Seg. Fd. to S&W, covering bio dUsc repair bills.
Chuck Dammyer reported that plans for "Angie Day" were continuting. Ghrganizers are still seeking dram shop liability insurance for a beer garden to be held that day, and Mr. Dammyer stated that adequate coverage will be obtained. He said the Huntley Lions Oub is acting as the respoffisible agent. Wicke noted
that the police committee wished that off-duty policemen not be employed to check IDs. However, extra police will be on duty. Gsil Wasserstrass thank¬ ed the board for help in getting a special permit for bingo. President Dhamer agreed to sign the "Angie Day" proclai- mation when it is presented.
Trustee Ahrens noted that the auditor's report showed the sewer and water dept. was operathig in the black. Village Auditor North pointed out that in 1984, the first full year of operatbn since fees were increased, the general fund had been paid back. He stated that cuts in expenses accounted for much ofthe savings.
President Dhamer announced that Building Inspector Marvin Radloff wished to resign but would continue to assist a new appointee. Dhamer then ap¬ pointed John Spradlin as Building Inspector. Stuart Shear will assist him, working before 7:30 am and after 4:00 pm on work days to inspect building projects in which Mr. Spradlin is involved. Wicke moved, Zim¬ merman seconded to accept the appobtment. Motion carried on a roll call vote-Berlin aye, Brown no, Ahrens aye, Wicke aye, Zimmerman aye.
President Dhamer then thanked the Park Board for its commimity spirit in organizing the successful town picnic. He also gratefully acknowledged Mrs. Edwin Deicke's generous gifts to the school and park board.
Dhamer then read the planning board's request that the village adopt a Greeobeh ordinance, dealing with the landscaping and aesthetics of building sites. Trastees and Attomey Szura will receive copies of Woodstock's similar ordinance and will consider such ordinance or resolution at next meeting. Dhamer then reported th&t the plajming commlssbn
had approved the resurveying of Pradence Cole's property. The commission had also approved as usage fitting zoning, Mr. Whitfield's purchase and reha¬ bilitation of the old laundramat building at Main and Woodstock Streets. Mr. Szura ezplained that an agreement had been reached conceming the recap¬ ture of $23,500.00 paid by the village to Bakley Contraction for improvements made to the Jackisch property on Algonquin
Rd. Wicke moved, Beriin seoonded (unanimous) to accept a resolution allowing the president and clerk to sign and witness this agreement which will be signed by all involved parties. Brown moved, Ahrens seconded (unanimous) to pay the annual donation of $115 to the Northeastem Illinois Plan¬ ning Commission.
While considering the Feder¬ al Revenue-Sharing requests, the board took the foUowing

Alabama Sends Best Wishes To ''Angle"
Alabama, the country group pictured above, has sent an autographed album and four autographed pictures to be auctioned off on "Angie Day" in Huntley. Alabama wiU be at Poplar Creek the evening of "Angie Day" and because of a rigorous schednle wUl not be able to attend. However they have sent they're best
wishes to Angie and hope that everyone wiU suppori her day in Huntley.
Alabama Productions has asked that the Angie Committee keep in contact with them to let them know how successful we have been with our benefits and how Angie is doing.
