Historical Society Holds 19tli. Annnal Meeting
American • Legion and AuxUiary' Officers Installed
At the recent 19th. annual meeting of the McHenry County Historical Society in Union, D., menibers and guests were presented with reports ftom the Society's officers that told of the following accomplishments: the number of oounty school diildren visiting the museum this past seaaon topped the 1,000 mark; visitors to the museum were alao up; some 3,000 artifacts had been

accessioned into the museum collection since the last annual meeting; the number of traveling exhibits on loan throughout the county had increased as had the number of programs given to groups and organizations by Society Direc¬ tors and the museum curator; the Society's records had been microfilmed; a successful series
of antiques courses were onereu last winter; during the previous fall, the Society conducted a historic bus tour of Dorr, Nunda, and McHenry Town¬ ships; and endowment fund for the operation of the museum had been established; the Historic Sites Committee had plaqued 7 historic structures the past year; and new lighting was completed in the library, office, hallway, and music room of the museum.

On May 31st. 1983, the«»«ney and Mrs. Gloria Huntley School District honored Christensen. A buffet dinner at two highly respected and the Blue Moon Restaurant was endeared retirees, Mr. Glen shared with fellow teachers,
administrators, sdiool board
members, ftmily and represen¬ tatives from school and oommunity groups. The evening included a welcome by Dr. Robert Bunt, Superintendent,
"Winner" Lion's Trip For Two
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hoiberg from Lake in the Hills were the lucky holders of ticket #892 drawn by Mr. Henry Marlowe.
Don Tessmer from the Huntley Lion's Club is shown awarding the "trip for two" to Mr. and Mrs. Hoiberg. Paul and his wife had the choice of accepting $750 or the trip. The latter which is a trip to Orlando Forida for seven days, was accepted. Thev will be taking the trip in November. When asked what they thought of this, Paul remarked "out of this world."
Co-chairmen on this project were Lions Don Tessmer and Ron Zirk. Ron was on vacation at the t4me the picture was taken.
A special thanka to everyone that made this trip possible for such a nice couple.
Hnntley Auxiliary Blood* Drive
Huntley Unit «673 American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a Blood Drive.
Blood supplies during tbe holidays and over the sammer are in short supply, says Aon Neumann, Blood drive ooordina-. tor with the Aurora Area Blood Bank.
"All types of blood are needed." Neumann aays. "The donors are basy vacattoning aad doing other things."
Acddeata alao are more frequent and create a Antfwr need for blood.
In response to this need, Huntley Unit 673 of tbe American Legion AozUlary will sponsor a blood drive from 3:00 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26. at Coatinued oa P^geTi
