Last Sunday. July 1st, seven Huntley kivelies oompeted for the title. Miss Huntley -1984.
The scene was one (rf color, beauty and nervousness, not only on the part of the contestants, but the Miss Huntley Committee as well.
The pageant went smoothly, with only minor mishaps. As a whole, the contestants <Ud a beautiful job. the committee, who worked so hard to make everything as nice as possible, did a great job. and the entertainers, were marvelous. They started woridng with Mrs. Tirk and found out in the middle of last week that ^e was unable to attend. They had to And a new accompianist. Andrea Man¬ ning came to their rescue. After getting the music Isst Thursday sbe wasn't sure what she had gotten herself into. 9te and the boys rehearsed every spare moment and it was worth fa.
Committee Chairman, Linda ;Boi;cfaart had tried to get the nee (tf the sdKxd fbr the pagMirt, but couldn't, so the Legion was transformed to meet her needs. Her husband, Barry, bou|ht the material and had tfae stage buih for the event. Even then, the committee feh the girls needed more room and sections of an old bandstand were adtted to make the stage larger and to give the girls a runway. Tbe
stage, which had been built in the smaller part of the hafl and had been meant to stay there was moved to the larger area in the front late Friday idgfat.
The boys, who were there to rehearse were put to woA. they s0 up the speaker system, took down tables, put up tables and took them down again Sunday momfaig. set up dufav and aU around worked very hard on the entire pageant.
Betty Conley was great, she picked up the speaker system from Mr. Booth at the sdiool. helped decorate and returned the speakers- agafai. Thanks Bettyl
Carol and Jfan Wefaich tabula¬ ted all the votes. Julie Olson. Cfaidy Goehl and Robfai Spfaifa>- las assisted the girls fai the dressfaig rooms and Cathy Ooehl and Blanche Freund were gracious enough to supply us with the pictures.
The entfaw pageant was a jofait effort on the part of many people aad the Miss Huntley Committee is grateffal fior everyone's hdp.
