iThe Euntle^ Jarmsik USPS 580-360 THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, 1986 VOLUME 26-NUMBER 39 OFFICE PHONE 312-669-5621 YOUR HOME TOWN PAPER SINCE 1960 25^ per copy ]¥[¦ iv ^4^ -^ * "fy/ Santa arrives in Huntley, Courtesy of the Hunley Fire Protection District's brand new truck, Paul Ziller & Dennis Ball! Santa Comes To Huntley On Saturday, December 20, Santa made a grand appearance at the First Congregational church arriving on Huntley Fire Protection District s brand new fire truck! About 60 children turned out to greet him. Santa sang songs with the children & told stories & each one got to talk to him & tell him exactly what they would like to find under their Christmas trees! The children enjoyed cookies, hot chocolate & a Disney classic, Mickey's Christmas Carol. Gift of Life The Aurora Area Blood Bank thanks the many healthy Americans who know that donating blood is a gratifying way of sharing their good fortune. People donate blood for the benefit of those under¬ going surgery and those who require it because of trauma or injury. People donate because it makes them feel good. There is no artifi¬ cial substitute for blood. The only source of life-saving blood transfusions is the volunteer blood donor who unselfishly donates the "gift of life." For those who don't think about donating, consider this: One donation, broken down into components, can help up to three people. Plasma can help a burn victim, red blood cells can help a cancer patient, and platelets can help a leukemia patient. Any one of these patient's could be someone's mom, dad or little one. This is one obvious example of when it's better to give than to receive. On behalf of the patients we serve, we thank you all the altruistic men and women who donated blood in 1986. We ask for your continued support in 1987. If you haven't donated blood before, please do so soon. Do¬ nations are needed to alleviate the holiday blood shortage.
