HOBO SHOW A SUCCESS

The 1980 Hobo Show may be history, but everyone attending will remember tfaat South Sea Island feeling. As usual the First Congregational Church Social Hall was packed with two sell-out dinner and shows. Songs such as the Sloop John B, Song ofthe Islands, and Harbor Lights created the right atmos¬ phere for the show. There was the usual touch of humor was added to the show by Crazy Cariine (Carl HiU) and "her" "Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" and "The Banana Boat Song" where the banana peels got a little out of hand. Door prizes were again part of the show with such prizes as palm trees and cheese and Quackers.
From comments made by departing guests, the Chancel Choir can chalk up another successful Hobo Show.
FAMILY FUN FAIR
A Family Fun Fair is coming to the Huntley Grade School on Saturday. April 19, from 11 am to 3 pm. There will be games, prizes, food, drinks, clowns, cotton candy, popcorn and much , much more. The CAC is sponsoring this fun time for all!
TOANNE DITTRICH TOOK 3rd IN MCC COMPETITION
Christine A. Reid. an outstanding seniw at Huntley High School has recently qualified as a Rnalist in the current National Merit Scholarship competition by scoring well on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Both tests measure verbal and mathematical ability. Chris is one of 14,000 academically talented students nation-wide selected to receive this honor. She is now eligible to receive one of 4,300 monetary awards distributed to the top ranking finalist. Chris is presently planning on attending Northem Illinois University next year and entering a liberal arts curriculum. She is the recipient of the D.A.R. Award, member of the National Honor Society, High School Band and place in the Scholastic Art Competition in "Photography."
JAMES WILLIAMS DAR RECIPIENT
On February 21, 1980, students from Huntley High SchooH participated in the Junior Engineering Technical Society Test of | Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (JETS - TEAMS) | at McHenry County College. In the competition. Diane Dittrich won f a Bronze medal in the English section of the testing. Diane, a I sophomore, had a third highest score in competition with five other |^ county high schools. Most ofthe other students taking the test were § seniors. The high school is proud of Diane's remarkable! accomplishment.
James L. Williams has recently been selected by the teachers and members of the senior class of Huntley High School as the winner of the Soils of the American Revolution Award. In the voting procedure, four points were taken into consideration - dependability, cooperation, leadership and patriotism. Jim has been very active in his four years at Huntley High School. He has participated in football, basketball, baseball every year and was named defensive captain of the football team. He is currently vice-president of the student council. Jim will attend McHenry County College in the fall.
