FIREMEN TAKE 1st PLACE IN WATER FIGHTS
The Huntley Fire Department's Water Fighting team took 1st place in competition at Cary last Sunday. They received the McHenry County Traveling Trophy. This is the first time that the Huntley team has won this honor. If they win it three times in a row the trophy will remain in Huntley permanently. The Huntley Team won over 4 other towns in competition . Cary number 1 in five heats; Woodstock City in four heats; Fox Lake in four heats; and Woodstock Rural in five heats, woodstock Rural received second place in the tournament.

CUB SCOUT SIGN UP
Sign up night for boys 8-10 years old interested in becoming Cub Scouts will be September 20th at 7 p.m. at the lst Congregational Church Social Hall. Cub Scouts who have signed up before need not register again.
VARSITY LOSES 9-6
The Redskins Varsity Team lost their first game of the season to' «hw Hiawatha Hawks 9-6 in a hard fought game. The game lead off with Hawks Quarterback Nolan kicking a field goal giving them the advantage. Huntley's Dan Schaller preceeded to make a touchdown which was set up by an interception by Jim Goehl.
The Hawks won the game by scoring with a little over 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter by Brian Sargeant.
During the last quarter play, two Huntley players were injured on the same play. They were Jim Brisco and Jim Goehl. Luckily the injuries were minor. However an announcer for the Hawks made the comment, "Nice going Hawks" while the two Huntley players were laying on the groung hurt. Parents, spectators and school youths booed the announcer.
Adam Brunschon was the leader in gained yards with 54 while Jim Goehl had 35 and Dan Schaller 35. Altogether there were 177 yard in offensive rushing.
The Redskin defense should itself to be A Number 1 with Jim Williams, Troy Rosslein and Dennis Foutch leading the team. Joe Zorica made a super 55 yard punt.
Coach Manning complimented his defensive players and said that the offense would be working harder on their plays for the next game.

FRESH REDSKINS
WIN 12-0
The Hiawatha Hawks came to Huntley to play the Redskins in their first Freshman game last Monday night. The Redskins were lead to a 12-0 victory by Coach Larry Kahl.
The 1st Quarter began with the Hawks trying to move the ball but not gaining much yardage. Huntley took control of the ball on the 40 yard line. The Redskins gained yardage as Quarterback Paul Eisenmenger went to the 15 yard line. No. 81 Todd Clark made a touchdown to give the Redskins a 6-0 lead as the extra point attempt failed.
The 2nd Quarter began with the Hawks catching a punt on the 45 yard line. They moved the ball down to the 30 when they were penalized five yards. They punted as no substantial yardage was gained. Huntley made an incomplete pass and a fumble ensued. The Redskins then intercepted a Hawk pass. The quarter ended with no real gain for either team.
The 3rd Quarter began with the Hawks in control at the 40 Huntley held them to the 35 yd. line. Huntley regained the ball and carried it to the 10 yd. line in several plays at which time the Hawks intercepted. As the quarter ended the Hawks had moved the ball from the 10 ydj line to the 45.
The Hawks were in posseu-J ion in the 4th Quarter when IM 23 Tyler Newton interceptHI and ran 70 yds. for a touchdoiwn the extra point failed as did the Hawks to move the ball. The game ended with Huntley winning 12-0.
Two Huntley players were thrown out of the game for swearing at the referee. The incidents took place in the 4th Quarter. The players claimed Continued on Page 2 '
VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Regular Meeting of th> Village Board of Trustees wa^ held September 6th, 1979 in thi Board Room of the ViUage Hali and was brought to order bv the President at 8:00 P.M.
Those present were: Presi dent Enstrom. Trustees Stroupe, Wicke, Mercer, Dha¬ mer and Rudsinski as well as Attomey Caldwell, and Village Engineer Schwegel. Also pre¬ sent were David Oldham and James Schultz of Public Work*; Department.
he President brought before the Board the minutes of the Special K-"- ' igs of August 9th and 21st and the Regular Meeting of August 2nd. There being no additions nor correct¬ ions, they stood approved.
The financial reports were next on the agenda. Trustee Stroupe made a motion that the Treasurer's Report be approved subject to later review, second¬ ed by Trustee Wicke and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and the motion carried.
President Enstrom announc¬ ed that application had been mad for the liquor license that was available, the applicants being the Huntley Inn, Inc.. Donna Workowski. President. Gary neperman. Vice President and Starr Workowski, Secretar\ Treasurer. Said tavem is for¬ merly on run by Michael Steffler in the Pfaff building. After du: consideration. Trustee Wicke made a motion that the license be granted to the corporation which motion was seconded by Trustee Stroupe. Toll noted: mercer, aye; Dhamer^ aye; Rudsinski, aye; Wicke, aye; Stroupe, aye. Motion carried.
