Regular Meeting June 24, 1987.
The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order by President Mercer at 8 P.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 1987. Present were Commissioners Mercer, Gurnett, Jurs, Olson and Woodcock, Attorney Cowlin, Mrs. Warrington and Mr. Wirsing. Also attending were representatives from the Senior Citizens, Huntley Farmside and Northwest Newspaper.
The minutes of the May 27 meeting were brought up for approval. Mr. Jurs made a motion to make an addition concerning committees, but there wasn't a second. Mr. Gurnett moved to approve the •minutes as written, second by Mr. Olson. The motion passed with four ayes and one nay (Jurs).
Mrs. Mercer moved to accept the Treasurer's report, second by Mr. Woodcock. The motion passed with four ayes and one nay (Jurs).
The bills for the month were presented. Mr. Jurs moved to pay all bills, second by Mr. Olson. All ayes and the motion carried.
Mrs. Alice Rendl from the Senior Citizens asked the board about this year's bus transportation. The board assured her that the program continues as before. Bruce Dahlquist of Dahlquist and Lutzow pre¬ sented sketches of possible additions to our present building for activities. After a lengthy discussion, he left the meeting.
Mr. Jurs made a motion, with second by Mr. Woodcock, to consult Harland Bartholomew and another park planner for second and third opinions for site plans. All ayes and the motion carried.
Mr. Wirsing reported on the safety meeting, table paint¬ ing, sawdust, Ol'Timer's trail, tennis courts, back¬ stops and nets.
Mrs. Warrington's report included Town Picnic, summer programs, copier repair or trade and memorials.

Town Picnic Successful
Sunday, June 28 was the, date for Huntley's Old Fashioned Town Picnic. It was a great day to get out and visit with your neighbors, enjoy the great food offered for sale by the local "eateries", and participate in some fun activities spon¬ sored by local businesses and organizations. Music for the day was provided by Fried- lander & Hall, Windfall & Kryer. There was an ice cream eating contest sponsored by the Dairy Mart, Funny Bones the magic clown made balloon animals, a Men's Legs Contest was judged by Miss Huntley, Cassie Evans, Julie Olson & Gail Wasserstrass. The Lioness took pictures beside an antique car owned by the Stier Family or behind a painted board created by Mike Urban & Kris Hutchison. There were horse ic carriage rides, a Karate demonstration by the Young Hong Karate Institute, a penny coral ic penny guess¬ ing contest was sponsored by the State Bank of Huntley, a dunk tank from the Jaycees ic paddle boat rides ic races sponsored by the Cub Scouts. An Ice Cream Social was spon¬ sored by the youth group from the First Congregational Church as well as a bake sale offered by the Huntley Cheer¬ leaders. Larry's "Mobile" Service sponsored a frog jumping contest, the Huntley Medical Center provided a blood pressure and blood
sugar screening, Jason Schifo il Chad Reiser displayed some of their art work for a "Mini" art festival and the Huntley Penquins displayed their "Tract Tender", sold popcorn ic raffle tickets for a new snowmobile. The Huntley Farmside provided pictures for the taking and L.E.A.C. (Landfill Emergency Action Committee) held a raffle to help offset legal fees. Businesses and organizations providing food were, Mona's, Helga's, Fortuna's Deli, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Huntley Lions Club. Spon¬ sors for the bands, horse & carriage and Funny Bones the Clown were, Huntley Park District, Robinson Indus¬ tries, Brill Realty, Marlowe Feed, Huntley Supermarket, McHenry Savings Bank, Huntley Village Inn, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Matt Tures Sons, Huntley Pharmacy, Village of Huntley, Hansford Chevrolet, Brown Bros. Heat¬ ing and Plumbing, Midwest- Dicken Manufstcturing, Pfaff Auto Sales, Memorial Hospital of Woodstock, Vemon Greve, Building Contractor, Cowlin, Ungvarsky, Kukla & Curran, Huntley Material Handling and the American Legion Auxili¬ ary.

On Sunday, at the Town Picniic, one of the many events that took place was the crowning of Miss Huntley. This year's candidate is Cassandra Evens. Cassie is a 1987 graduate of Huntley High School. She was the valedictorian and is going on to college in the fall to study Marine Biology. Some of the duties of Miss Huntley are: to represent Huntley in the Miss McHenry County Pagent at the fair and to be one of he Judges in the Men's Legs contest at the Town' Picnic.
News
After pot luck at the First Congregational Church social hall June 26, Pres. Fred Ahrens called the meeting to order.  The pledge to the flag was given, roll call was taken, minutes were read and approved.  Treas. Viola Knaak gave her report, which was accepted.   The birthday song was sung for the June celebrants.
Alice Rendl, recreational chairman, reported she had attended a park distrct board meeting, asking for bus trips as Senior citizen activities sponsored by the Park District.  There will be 4 trips in all.  A trip to Lake
Geneva will be taken in August and a visit to Christmas Tree House in Kenasha Wi. in October.  The recent "Mystery Trip" ended up in Rockford with a visit to Sinissippi Gardens, Tinker Swiss Cottage and the Time Museum.
The July 23 meeting will be a catered lunch at Deicke Park.  Reservation must be made by July 16 with Alice Rendl or Louise Kruetzer.  Be at the park by 11:45.
