Shopper may be going crazy with inflationary prices but there is one thing that we all have a lot of and it's free. All you have to do is say a prayer and we'll get more.
Percy Swanson is inovating a new bargain as he is the first to sell his snow. Now if he can only find a buyer, he's all set. What do you suppose a ton of snow would bring? A lot of headaches, backaches and plain all over aching limbs.
Last year New Years started off with a bang as Huntley had 10 inches of snow. A blood bank was held. Bemice Bakley celebrated her 85th birthday with an Open House. McHenry County was going from county to county with their new Zoning Ordinance. The Meet & Eat program increased to 3 days a week.
On January 13, the snow storms of all storms hit Huntley and the new gym lobby collapsed under the snow pressure. The gym just started being used by the Basketball team last week, just about one year later. The Boosters planned their annual Valentine Dance. Residents had to shovel their roofs, gas meters, and fire hydrants because they were so buried. It took over a week for all the streets to be cleared. Sheriff Tyrell resigned.
FEBRUARY
The Huntley High School Bowling team were Number 1. Ml^ Plote donated money to the seniors. The Penguins Snowmobile Qub gave scouts rides. The gym's safety was in question. Percy Swanson was selling snow for free. Admiral Finn was seen on cross county skis going down Route 47. The gym was reported unsage and architectual and constmction errors were brought out. Richard Frick opened the Huntley Pharmacy adding prescription dmgs.
Fox Valley Grease had a fire. The Hobo show and Blue & Gold dinner were coming up. the Legion Birthday Party was scheduled for March 10. Honor Roll winners were announced. A suprise Birthday party was held for Julie Olson and Butch Dougherty.
Doug Will was to be awarded Eagle Scout. Cub Scouts received awards. Vic Dahl eamed a certificate for attending a seminar. School Board was looking into legal action. The FFA celebrated its anniversary. Bill Esenmenger left the Huntley school staff.
MARCH
Glen Delaney was honored. The new gym waa named after him. Millie Ruth was named Marengo bank director. Mabel Schultz was awarded service chairman. George Wassertrau became the Commissioner of the Huntley Little League.
Miss Lamz's Swing Choir took Ist Place at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Competition.
