HUNTLEY HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS BANQUET
Last Tuesday, March 18, the First Winter Sports Banquet was Iheld at the Grade School Gym. Attending were basketball and bowling players and their parents. Dr. Bunt welcomed the group praising this years teams. Joe Manning gave the Invocation.
The dinner consisted of spaghetti with meat sauce, assorted salads, relishes, bread and dessert.
Cheerieading awards were given by Ms. Linda Kostelac, sponsor. Awards for the Junior Varsity were given to Julie Omberg and Andrea Manning - Freshmen Certificates; Lorri Resh and Leslie Grau - Numerals; Carol Emesti & Stacy Hulke - Letters and Chris Foerster - Sophomore Certificate.
The Varsity awards were Vicki Zirk, Sue Schaller, and Jan Smith - Letters & Certificates; Seniors Sandy Stallbaum. Lonna Jones and Brenda Tessmer - Senior Certificates. Brenda has been in cheerieading for 4 years while Lonna served 3 yrs. and Sandy 2.
Mr. Skomer introduced Miss Peterson, Head Bowling Coach. She said that she was pleased with the team and that this will be the last year for bowling in Huntley. Miss Peterson gave the Freshmen Awards to April Fischer and Penny Goers-Taylor; The Sophomore Awards to Kim Keams and Ilene Skytte; The Juntor Awards to Sandy Hight, Tammy Hudren, Jerry Lueth, Sue Schaller and Becky Tessmer and the Senior awards to Lonna Jones, Robin Kunde, Connie Marsh and Brenda Tessmer.
Walking away with all the awards was Connie Marsh. She received Sparer '80 Award, Striker '80 Award and Most Valuable Player (voted by the team). Connie was also the individual state qualifiers. She shot 1028 in a 3 game series. She was awarded the State Individual Bowling Plaque for this season in the shape of a bowling ball.
Coach Tichy took the floor to give out the Fresh-Soph Basketball Awards. He thanked the players for taking all the stuff he gave them and said that sometimes he yelled a lot. He stated that he wouldn't want to play for himself. He thanked the players fbr sticking in there. He said that he'd be glad to move up with the squad if Coach Delaney wanted to step down. Freshmen receiving awards were Brad Conrad, Paul Eisenmenger, Dave Hansen, Matt Kunde, Erwin Looney, Scott O'Brien, Dale Pfaff, Richard Goeriitz, Chris Pupich and Bill Weirich. Certificates were given to Sophomores Tom Hight, Bob Livingston, Dale Erath, Carl Michalek, Tyler Newtdn.Steve Reynolds and Pat Schweiger.
The Most Improved Player was awarded to Tora Bight. Dale Erath received the award for Most Free Throws and Most Valuable Players.
SCHOOLBOARD MEETING
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley, Illinois, was held in the High School Building on March 13. 1980 at 7:30 p.m.
The President called the meeting to order at 7;30 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Pawl, Mrs. Basel, Mr. Spears, Mr. Pupich. Mrs. Livingston and Mr. Zirk. Absent -Mr. Grismer.
All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag.
Mrs. Basel moved Mr. Pupich 2nd to approve the minutes of the February 28 meeting as written. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays.
Mr. Spears moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd to amend the agenda to take item 12. Opportunity for Visitors to Speak after Item 5 G. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays.
Mrs. Basel moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd to approve payment of the monthly bills. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays.
Mt. Vvpkh moved Kir. Zirk 2nd to approve payment of $1092.80 to reimburse Imprest Fund for total expenditures. The motion carried with 5 yeas and I nay cast by Mr. Spears.
Mr. Zirk moved Mr. Spears 2nd to approve the resolution to loan $97,103.78 to the Education Fund from the Working Cash Fund. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays.
Mr. Pupich moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve the resolution to permanently transfer $8,265.20 to the Education Fund from the Working Cash Fund, $8,265.20 being interest earned during fiscal 80. The motion carried with 5 yeas and 1 nay with Mr. Spears casting the nay vote.

MEET SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES APRIL 7
On Monday evening, April 7, the Citizens Advisory Council of District 158 will be sponsoring a "Meet the Candidates Night" at 7:30 p.m. in the grade school gym. Guests will be the candidates for the school board election to be held on AptU 12. There are two openings on the board. Those people who are seeking election at this time are Walter Pupich, Judy McLaugh¬ lin, Jim Reid, Bernadine Dar¬ ling and Betty Conley. We hope that you will be able to oome out, get familiar with the issues
and the candidates and then go out and vote on April 12. The moderator for the evening will be Dr. Gary Grau.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Hiigh School Choraliier Handbell Choir of the 1st Congregational Church will be sponsoring a pancake breakfitst and bake sale on Saturday, March 29 from 7 am - 12:30 pm in the church social hall. The cost will be $2.50 for adults and $1.50 fbr chUdren. The proceeds will go towards a trip to the handbell festival in Normal, nil. fbr the choir.
