Significance  of the Army-Navy "E"  Award
The United States  War and Navy Department  today join in  the formal presentation to the men  and women of William M.  Fencil Company, Fuze Loading Division, of the coveted joint Army- Navy Production Award for high achievement in the production of essential war material. An interesting story lies behind the "E"  flag and  the lapel emblems symbolic of the award.
In  1906, the Navy instituted within the fleet  an Award for Execellence which has been known ever since  as the Navy "E". It was first  awarded to the ship and to the men who had ex¬ celled in gunnery. Later it was extended to include oustand- ing performance in engineering and communcations. An honor not easily won, it became  and has remained  a matter of deep pride to those who receive it.
Following Pearl Harbor there arose a demand for war produc¬ tion such as the world has never known  ...  a realization that American fighting forces  and the men  and women of Ameri¬ can industry are partners in the struggle for world freedom . .  .  and a firm determination on the part of every American to work  and fight together until victory is complete.
From that high resolve was born the Army-Navy "E"  Produc¬ tion Award, which is given today  as the joint recognition by our fighting forces of exceptional performance on the produc¬ tion front. The Army-Navy "E"  lapel emblem for outstanding achievement  in production is the highest  award given to civilians engaged in war production. It is an  award in recognition of the indomitable American spirit which can be satisfied only by  achieving today what yesterday seemed im¬ possible. It  is an  award of merit to signify both individual and collective effort  and such can be worn with great pride. It is a nation's tribute to patriotism and unselfish effort in the great work of backing up our fighting men.

Seiler-Gordon  Nuptials
Former  Huntley  resident  Regina Anne  Seller  was  wed  to  Jon Jeffrey  Gordon on August 30,  1986.  The ceremony took place at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Sarasota Florida. These residents of Sarasota have spent  their honeymoon in Jamaica.
