On Friday, July 23, Huntley Park District sponsored their second annual "Superstars Dayl" 39 kids showed up to compete in six different events: Softball throw, Frisbee Throw, Jump Roping, Basketball Free Throw, Horseshoe Toss & the Obstacle Course. The leaders for the events were the Huntley Park Dist. Playground Staff - Pam Heinz, Joni Shear, Sandy Wiesneth, Paul Miller & Betsey Warrington.
The winners in the 5-8 year old category for Softball Throw were: Caleb Kittel, lst; Tim Heavey, 2nd & Mike Thackwray, 3rd
FRISBEE THROW Tim Heavey, 1st; Caleb Kittel, 2nd <& Jason Boettcher, 3rd
JUMP ROPE Jenny Heinz, 1st; Kristin Wickman, 2nd & Tim Heavey, 3rd

CONGREGATIONAL
CHURCH
We, at the First Congrega¬ tional Church of HuntlepT are happy to announce that our new minister. Reverend Ronald T. Woodruff, will be conducting his first worship service with our church on Sunday, August 1, 1982. Rev. Woodruff comes to Huntley from the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where he has spent the last 25 years. He and his family will be moving into our community during the first week of August.
Join us in this joyous occasion by attending church with us on Sunday. Special music will be provided by the choir and their friends from the Bahamas. You are also invited to join us after the service for a coffee hour in our Socia] Hall. Plan on being with us this Sunday for worship and meeting Rev. Woodruff and his familyl
SIDEWALK DAY AUGUST 14th
Plans are already underway for Sidewalk Day ip Huntley this year. It is scheduled for August 14th. Some dispayers from last year have already put in their bids for space in the downtown park.
I'he Jaycees are lining up a dunk tank. The Huntley Republican will have their Pet Parade at 10:30 a.m. Seniors have agreed to entertain shoppers with their delightful kitchen band again this year.
Huntley Merchants are plann¬ ing bargains galore for every age group.
Anyone Interested in display¬ ing merchandise in the downtown park or providing music for the day are aked to call Marge O'Brien at 669-5621 or Louise Kreutzer-at 669-3383 (days). New ideas are always welcome.
"^VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AUG. 9th
The children (age 3 - grade 4) of the community are invited to attend the First Congregational VBS for the week of August 9-13 (Mon.-fri.) 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The theme for Vacation Bible School this year is "God's People: Empowered by Love."
You may pre-register by calling or stopping by the church ofHce (669-3691) 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This year there will be a small fee of $2.00 per child or $3.00 per family for materials. We will see you on the first day, August 9 at 9:00 a.m.l
LIONESS CLUB BAKE SALE ON SIDEWALK DAY
This year the Huntley Lioness Club plan to hold their usual Bake Sale in the park. They will also have a ' 'Guess the number of Jelly Beans" game. The person who wins will get all the beans plus tooMy and coupons kk treats which witl also be in the jar. Be sure to comji by their stand and try to win this jackpot.
SCOTT OLTENDORF TAKES 3rd PLACE
Pictured above is Soott Oltendorf with Auxiliary President Arlene Mattingly. Scott took 1st place in the Huntley Poppy Poster competetion. His poster was sent to Department of Illinois for competition and he placed 3rd for Grades 8 & 9. Soott won $15.00.

Members of Huntley Post # 673 of the American Legion ha elected Ronald Emricson to be Commander of the organization tui the 1982-83 program year. Other ofTicers elected were:
Ed Hartman,- Senior Vice Commander John Conley - Jr. Vice Commander
Don Enstrom - Adjutant
Robert Schachtner - Finance Officer
Robert Schulu - Chaplain
Richard Enstrom - Sgt. at Arms
The new commander and all other officers will assume tbeir respective duties at installation ceromonies on Saturday, July 31st, at the Post Home starting at 7:30 P.M.
Installing officer for the installation will be Robert SchulU, Past llth District Commander: Installing Sgt. At Anns, Joe Hellinski, McHenry County Council Commander and Instailing Chaplain, Winston Baumann, Paat 11th Dtotrict Commaoder.
This will be a joint installatioo with tlie Huntley Unit of the AuxUiary. Lunch will be served after the iastallstion. The public is invited to attend.
