Mr. Edgar Ream, Mr. Stephen Pdep and Mr. Joseph Manning gave the Commencement Address all in their own good humor. The Huntley High School Band played and the Concert Choir sang. The Senior Ensemble sang thdr last song as Huntley Senloirs and an in aO tiie Oraduatloa of 59 Hnntl^ Scaiars waa beaottftal. Scdarsh^ were awarded by Robert SdwHz, American LegioB Awards and Scholarship; Dr. Bunt, Edwin P. Deicfce Foundation Scbcdarshlp, and the Howard Ruth Scholarship; Ms. Beveriy Hartman, Huntley Uoness Club Scholarship; Daniel Ziller. Huntley Uons Oub Scholarship, B.F. Streator Sch(4arshlp and Union Special Scholarships. Redpients of the scbolarshlpa were; Pauline Ziller, Sandy Wiesneth, Brett Pierce, Jim Blank, Julie DomagalsU, Dave Hanses and Jeff Peterson. Pony Leaogae StiU Going Strong On May 31st Hnntley beast Elburn Orange 34 to 0 in five innings. Danny Erath pitched diat game allowing only one hit. Then on Saturday, Huntley traveled to Sugar Grove and Cwed the undefeated Sugar Grove team to come away wi£ a 16-1 victory. The winning pitcher, Dave Erath. Greg Kittel led the way with 3 hits and Chris Akerberg was the outstanding fielder. Last Tuesday Huntley fKed die #1 team in the south division, Kanevllle. Greg Kittel started the game, pitching 2 innings of no hit ball. Dave Erath took over in the 3rd inning and faced 15 batter* striUng out 11 and he also, gave up ao hits. Of course, Haatley woo, 5-0. Dan Erath drove In the first roa. Odier Uti were by Dave Ecmtfa, Greg Kittel, Mark Bauer and Troy Keesling. Coach Ellsworth Mated after the game that it was the toughest game so far and hopes that next Tuesday's game in Maple Park is a good one too. GOOD LUCK TEAMI Hnntley Legion Traveling Team The Legion Traveling Team' has started where they left off last year with a 3-0 record. On Junel, they traveled to Maple Park and came away with a 6-1 win. Chad Reiser was the winning pitcher and helped his own cause by going 3 fbr 3. Other players contributing were Eric Kittel, Brian McDonald, Chris Page, Bobby Hansler and Kent Seaver. On Saturday, June 2, they traveled to Kanevllle and came away with a 8-7 win. Chris Page was the starting pitcher with Bob Hansler relieving him. Hitting stars for tfae day were Eric Kittel. Chad Reiser, Bob Hansler and Kent Seaver. On Tuesday, June 5, the team gave the coach a wonderful anniversary present by beating Wasco 29-8. Chris Page was the winning pitcher. Chad Relaer went 5 for 5 widi a home run and Kent Seaver was 3 for 4 with a home ran. Thanks to the Huntley Legion for the new aniforms, to our ground crew. Bob EUswordi and Sudsy and to tbe umpires for dieir time. Registration For Computer Classes The Huntley Community Unit Schod District is sdll taking registration for its summer computer daasea. Classes will start June 11 and run for 5 weeka ffom 8:00 am ill 10:00 am. Classes indude 1 hour of classroom Instructicm and an hour of lab duty. Cost of the course is S55.00, open to afl children who will be attending grades 5 - 9 this coming fall. Registration is at the grade schod on a first come first serve basis. Bike Rodeo Cancelled For Sat. Jnne 9th Reschednled Soon Spring Athletic Banquet We've said it time after time. Huntiey has a lot of talent and at tbe end of the schod year some of this talent was rewarded at die Spring Athletic Banquet where parents and coaches gadiered to honor Huntiey's Atiiletes. After die pot-lud[ supper, with meat furnished by the Huntiey Uons Gub, and dishes brought by parents, awards were given. Assistant Softi>an Coaches. Ms. Julie Petersen and Mr. Jay Fuller awarded Frosh-Soph team members Daden McGee as Most Improved Player and Betii Martin, Most Valuable Player. Head Softball Coach, Joyce Radostits gave out the fdlowlng Varsity awards; Pitching award to Suzanne Ernesti; Most Improved, Kristin Ostrander; Captain, Shana Mc¬ Gee; MVP Offense St All Conference, Jill Niemeyer; MVP Defense and All Confer¬ ence, Debbie Wiesneth. Asst BasebaU Coach, Jim Hughes was next with Froah- Soph awards. Most Improved Player, Ken Basel; MVP, Dan Eradi; Co- Captains, Cris Manley and Larry Rugg. Mr. Ed Ream, Varsity Baae- ball Coach said he took die coaching podtion witfa mixed emotions, like watching hia mother-in-law going over a cliff in his brand new Cadillac.
