Something for everyone is the plan. There will be a demonstration on getting dairy cattle ready for the McHenry County fair. The fair is to start on July 30 and run through August 3. The Harold Borhart family has been active in the fair since its start almost 30 years ago. Harold was a ten year 4-H dub member. Mrs. Borhart (peari) was a 4-H Queen. Linda was a recent candidate fbr Dairy Princess. Many of you will remember her as having show grand champions, and winning showmanship contest at the fair. Sue, Steve and Larry, all are farming for themselves. Judy will have some Ducks and geese at Union on the 20th also. K. DOBROLINSKY TO GO TO WASHINGTON D.C. Ifyou want to know how to have your beef anima] head the list of winners, then corae and see the Keams family show. They will tell you what beef showmanship is all about This family usually has 10 to 12 animals at the fair. They not only show every year but they excell in quality and showmanship. The Keams children will be showing you how to get your animal ready for the fair and also how to show it once you are there. Have you ever seen triple calves? The 20th is the day. The Ed Manke family are bringing the cow and her three calves for you to see. This is a very remarkable cow since she has given birth to seven calves in less than two years. She also produced over 18,000 pounds of milk last year, partially do to the good care that she received from Ed, Mary, Todd and Jodi. Continued on Page 9 SUMMER WEEKEND FOR TWO The Huntley Merchants and the Huntley Farmside Newspaper are pleased to announce a Summer Weekend for Two Give away. Two weekends will be given away - one to the Abbey in Wisconsin. Food and lodging are included in this trip. The Abbey is famous for its many fine restaurants, swimming pools, game rooms and shops. It is located right on Lake Geneva. The second trip is to a new resort called the Midway Motor Lodge in Dubuque right off of Rt. 20. Only lodging is included in this trip. They have a heated pool, whirlpool, saunas, sun lamps, billards and ping pong plus a restaurant and a lounge. Besides the trips, tickets will be given away to Great America (2 sets of 2 tickets), Santa's Village (2 tickets) and Circus World in Baraboo (2 tickets). The drawing will be held on Saturday, August 9th which is also Sidewalk Day in Huntley, in the downtown park. Merchant participating are: The Huntley Supetmarket, Dr. James O'Laughlin, Huntley Pharmacy, J.H. Patterson Lumber Co., Parkside Tap, Village Inn, Huntleor Ina, Bowl Hi Laaes. State Bank of Hj^ntley, Farmside Auto Supply lae.. Marlowe Feed k Hatchery, Hansen Heating k Plumbing, Buck Broa., V 4k V Electraaics. West Main Street Pub, Pinecrest Golf & Country Club and Freund Equipment. Entries must be 18 or older. Other rules will be decided by the Participating Merchants for their entries. Start signing up this weekend. ; we reported that Keith Dobrolinsky had been named "Scout ofthe Year" from the Blackhawk Area Council. This week the Council sent infbrmation atTout Keith's appointment. Requirements for this honor were to be a registered Boy Scout and have received an Eagle Award; to be an active member of his troop; Not to have reached his 18th birthday by March 1, 1981; and to have demonstrated outstanding citizenship in his religious activities (or beliefs), his school. Scouting and community - i.e. student body president, student coundl representative, chairman of a local teen dub. partidpant in a communitv wide service project. Continued on Page 9 TAX PAYMENTS DUE SEPTEMBER 4th McHenry County real estate tax bills for 1979 will be mailed to taxpayers during the week of July 7th, it was announced this week by Mrs. Audrey R. Walgenbach, McHenry County Treasurer. Deadline for payment for lioth installments without incurring interest penalties will be September 4, 1980, although taxpayers who wish to pay the first installment earlier may do so by submitting payment with the first installation portion of the bill, according to Mrs. Walgenbach. This year's tax bill will have the usual two parts, one for first installment and one for aeoond installnient although only one due date - September 4th - shall apply to iMth intallmenU. Present were Commis¬ sioners Ruth, Borhari, Mercer, Weltzien and Tures. Also in attendance were Larry Kahl. Attorney Cowlin and Betsey Warrington. The minutes of the May 28th meeting were read. Mr. Tures moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Mr. Borhart. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. The Treasurer's Report was given. Mr. Borhart moved to accept the report, seconded by Mr. Weltzien. All Commisaion- ers voted aye and the motion carried. The bills for the month were preaented. A motkm to pay all Continued on Page 4 TOY SWAP THIS SATURDAY This Saturday, July 12, the Huntley Park Distrid will hold its 2nd Annual Toy Swap at Deicke Pait beginning at 1 p.m. Kids can bring toys which they are tired of and swap them for something different. Even ifyou don't have a toy to swap, come out for the games and refreshments. It should be a fun day for alll VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES The July 3, 1980 meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and brought to order by the President at 8:00 P.M. Roll noted: President En¬ strom, Trustees Stroupe, Wicke, Rudsinski. Dhamer, Mercer and Lamb present, as well as Attorney Szura and Village Engineer Schwegel and members of the public works department. Minutes of the previous meeting June 5, 1980, were brought to the Board fbr review. There being no additions nor corrections, they stood approv¬ ed as presented. The Board then reviewed the Treasurer's Report, along with the financial reports. Trustee Stroupe made a motion to approve of the Treasurer's Report subject to darification of some movement of monies in the Bond Reserve which the Oeric was to check. Said motion seconded by Trustee Lamb, and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and motion carried. The current bills were discussed and after such discussion, a motion was made by Trustee Mercer, seconded by Truatee Wicke. to approve of their payment and upon roll call all trusteea voted aye and the Clerk waa inatructed to make payment of aame.
