Circus Coming To Huntley
The Huntley area Jaycees are sponsoring the Franzen Brothers Circus. The circus will be held at the Huntley Grade School on Tuesday, July 12th. There will be two evening performances at 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. The Shows will feature tigers, lions, elephants, aerial acts, and of course clowns.
Save money by purchasing your circus tickets in advance from Jaycee members or locations around town. (State Bank of Huntley and Ventura Association.)
The tickets in advance are as follows $5.00 - adults, $3.00 - children or senior citizens. A family of 2 adults and 4 children is $17.00.
Come out with your kids and enjoy a great evening at the circus.

Historical Society Picnic
On Sunday, July ID, members, past members and friends ot the McHenery County Historical Society are invited to an afternoon picnic on the grounds of the Society's museum in Union. Organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Society, picnickers are asked to bring their picnic lunches. Lemonade and coffee will be provided by the Society. The picnic will go on during the museum's regular Sunday hpurs, 1:30 to 4:30

Eagle Scout Performs Community Service Project

Michael Peterson, 17, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Peterson of Huntley has been working on his service project for the Boy Scout Eagle Rank Award. Michael, along with his fellow troop members and staff of the Huntley Park District, has been assembling a "DuraScape Play Structure" at 01' Timer's Park.
Troop members assisting with this project are Willie Mathes.on, Kevin Christ, Craig Nichols, Matthew Peterson and Aaron Peterson. Lending a hand from the Park District are LeRoy Wirsing, Larry Kahl, John Mercer, Dave Miller and Manning Brown. Also helping is Maryam Smith.
Heritage Fair
On Sunday, June 26, the McHenry County Historical Society held their 4th Annual Heritage Fair in Union at the site of thc Society's museum, an 1870's building which once served as the Union School. Costumed members of the Society offered vintage hats, clothes, antique books and miscellaneous items for sale. A beautiful baby quilt was raffled off as well as hourly raffles of baskets of goodies.
Craft booths to browse, baked goods to buy, spinning, weaving and quilting demonstrations to watch, plenty of food to sample and old fashioned games were just part of the days activities.
Entertainment took place throughout the afternoon with storyteller Jim May, the Harvard Squares, the Harrison Civil War Drill Team, the Huntley Kitchen Band and Gary Nickels (with slides of early McHenry County scenes). The museum was also open all day.

American Legion Holds Joint Installation
Huntley American Legion Post #673 and American Legion ¦ Auxiliary will hold a joint installation on Sunday, July 24, 1988, at 4:00 p.m. Installing officer for the Auxiliary is Becky Gabel of Fox River Grove; installing Sergeant-at-Arms is Ethel Lewis of Marengo; installing Chaplain is Marie Boncosky of Crystal Lake; and installing musician is lolene Biangardi of Fox River Grove.
The 1988-89 slate of officers for the Auxiliary to be installed are: President - May Chesak, 1st Vice - Ariene Mattingly, Treasurer - Betty Zirk, Secretary - Marilyn Eckman, Historian - Lois Parisek, Sgt. at Arms - Francis Fox, Asst. Sgt. at Arms - Dorothy Schaller.
Insifelling officer for the Legion is Joe Lewis of Marengoi Sgt.-at-Arms is Gordon Gabel of Fox River Grove.
The 1988-89 slate of officers for the Legion are: Commander - James "Barney" Manning, Sr. Vice - Bob Zirk, Jr. Vice - Don Hardy, Treasurer - Richard Enstrom, Adjutant - Don Enstrom, Finance Officer - to be appointed. Chaplain - to be appointed.
Refreshments will be served after the installation.
Vacation Bible Schooi
Children of the community, ages 3 and older, are invited to attend the First Congregational Church of Huntley Vaction Bible School, July 11-15, 9-11:30 a.m. The fee is $3 per child or $5 per famiiy. The week will center around our Victory Village as we all learn how to be Champions for Jesus. Please register by calling the Church Office, 669-3691.
