Legion Auxiliary
After a months vacation we're -back in action. As we know, February is designated as "Americanism" month on our calendar, added emphasis on patriotism is encouraged, allegiance to our country is renewed and responsibilities are promoted for the principles and ideals of Freedom, Justice and Democracy. It is the duty of each one of us to stimulate the love of country, appreciate our priviledge so often taken for granted and show respect for our flag. The schools have been contacted in regard to the American Essay contest with the subject being "My Faith in America". Prizes for best essays will be awarded at our March meeting. Our Poppy Day is May 22 (Friday), again our members will be posted at various stations asking for contributions for this worthy cause. The cause being to assist in the rehabilitation of those veterans who are now hospitalized suffering from wounds and illnesses. Blood Bank on March 17, First Congregational Church, your participation is%reatly appreciated.
Coming Events - March 15 (Sunday) 12:00 - 3:00 Corn Beef ic Cabbage - tickets available at door ic from the Legionaires - Carry outs $5.00 for adults, $2.50 for Children - all you can eat.
Birthday Dinner Dance - March 28 (Saturday) $7.00 per person, cocktails at 6:00 p.m., make reservation. Be a participant, support your Legion. Let us know who you are - hoping for a good turn out.

Lions Meeting
May Chesak and Barney led us in the "Little Brown Jug" ic "The Star Spangled Banner" with two guests and 33 members present. Lion Del Borhart led us in prayer asking all to pray for Chuck Harp who is seriously ill. The pledge was led by Gordon Schultz.
After a ham dinner served by the ladies of the Legion, minutes were read with a motion from Gordon Schultz and seconded by Hoppy Kahl to accept them. Motion carried. A motion by Gordon Schultz to accept the treasurers report was seconded by Mike Grechis. Motion Carried.
Ten members are signed up to go to the Zone meeting on Feb. 19 at the Blue Moon. President Hartman announced that the Gilberts and Union Lions would be invited to Huntley for the April 28 meeting.
Dick Kohiey has tickets available for the Lions Roar on March 10. Lion Gary Schultze volunteered to take care of tickets for Sight and Sound.
Joe Schaller moved to get a new bell for our 40th Anniversary which is coming up in April. It was seconded by Mike Grechis. Pres. Hartman appointed Joe Schaller, Charles Dammyer and Elmer Briton to be in charge of some kind of party for our 40th Anniversary.
There being no other business, a motion was made by Don Tessmer and seconded by Jim Mattingly to adjourn. Dick Kohiey, Secretary
The Chancel Choir of the First Congregational Church of Huntley will present its' 23rd annual Hobo Show and Beef Stew Dinner on March 13th and 14th in the church social hall. The title of this years' show is "Faraway Places", and the "Hobos", under the direction of Miss Luann Lamz, and accompanied by Mrs. Barbara Faga, will journey through songs to such places as Mexico, France, and Spain, to mention a few. They will find "It's a Small World", as they endure "The Ran in Spain", the enchant¬ ment of "Edelweiss", the sadness of "Spanish Eyes" and the wonder of "Paloma Blanca". They won't tell what happens when they meet "The Lonely Goatherd", "Gretchen Pumpernickel" and "Chiquita Banana". But you can bet it will be very interesting.
The hobos will serve a beef stew dinner created by fellow church members. The tickets for the dinner show will go on sale Saturday, February 21st at 9:00 a.m. in the church social hall. There are reserved seats only and no tickets will be sold at the door. They sell for $6.50 for adults and $3.00 for children. Show times are at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, and 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. After February 21st tickets may be secured by phoning 669-5522.
The cast of hobos consists of Prudy Cole, Dawn Evans, Delores Evans, Shelby Taga, Kevin Frihart, Sue Frihart, Terry Frihart, Sandra Granholm, Steve Granholm, Mary Lou Hardy, Carl Hill, Shelby Hill, Margaret Knott, Dorell Koon, Gary Koon, Frank Peletz, Mary Ann Peltz, Dawn Sodergren, Betsy Warrington, Larry Warrington, Sally Warrington, Candy Woodcock, Cora Woodruff and Ron Woodruff. They are busy preparing songs, goody bags, door prizes and much more for a most enjoyable evening for you. Be sure to get your tickets early to assure your¬ self a seat.
National F.F.A. Week
The week of February 22nd - 28th is National F.F.A. week. Our Huntley F.F.A. Chapter will be holding festivities and attractions throughout the week. Starting Monday, we will be holding a coloring contest for the grade school. The winners from each grade will receive a toy tractor from our Chapter. Tuesday we will • be honoring our first year members by having a Greenhand Day. Wednesday morning we will be holding our annual Businessman Breakfast. This breakfast is sponsored by our Chapter to show our appreciation to local businessmen for their support throughout the year. Our barn yard zoo and the debut of our video will be on the agenda for Thursday. Our video, which all of our chapter members help put together, will be shown throughout the day in the high school Ag. room and may also be seen on television channel 21. Friday we will be having Tractor Day. Members of our chapter will bring their farm equipment to school, parking it out in fromt for all to see. The purpose of F.F.A. week is to nationally recognize agriculture in our country.

4th St. Pats of St. Charles Also, our cheerleaders did a great job with the th & 6th grade receiving the 4th place trophy. The cheerleader 1st place trophy was saved for last and went to none other than the Huntley 7th St Sth Grade squad. Congratulations to all the players and cheerleaders who put on a great show.
