This year weather permitting, there will be a special suprise for all. The one and only Garfield Goose will be entertaining at the gazebo in the downtown park. The Muppet Puppet will be joining him at the park at .1 -.IO p.m. They will be putting on a half hour show. Following the presentation, the stars will be signing autographs for children of ali ges. BOY SCOUT PAPER DRIVE The Huntley Boy Scouts will be )n Friday, June 15 and Saturday, •all Gary DeDina. ^ .outmaster. VILLAGE F >ARD MEETING At 8:15 p.m. the Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall on June 7th, 1979 and called to order by President Enstrom. Those present were: Presi¬ dent Enstrom, Trustee Frank, Stroupe, Mercer, Wicke, Dhamer and Rudsinski. Also, in attendance were Attorney having a paper drive this weekend June 16. For pickup, residents can William CaldweU, acting fot Attorney Michael Caldwell, Village Engineer Schwegel and SupCTintendent of Public Works Swanson. The minutes of the Special Meeting for Public Participation for Federal Revenue Sharing Funds and also the minutes of' the May 3rd regular meeting were brought befon; the Board for any additions or viorrections. There being none they stood approved as presented. Continued on Insidt Page The following is a speech made at the dedication cere¬ mony by Bank Director Henry Mariowe. This should be a happy occasion. like the birth of a new baby, a new calf, colt, a litter of kittens, or some newly hatched chicks. The beginning of some¬ thing new, like the new baby, let us hope that it will be a great asset to our community. What is a bank? It is a building of brick, mortar A cement. Built to hold the communities assets and treasurers. It is a place where you may store in absolute safety, your deeds, wills, agreements and personal treasurers. More important a bank is a place where the people of a community, county or state, brings together their money. The bank under authority grant¬ ed them, groups this money and in tum makes this money available for other people to use. The more productive the people, and the more productive the area, gives the bank more money that they in tum may serve mote people. We are fortunate to be located in a very flne agriculture commimity. 607e of the land in Grafton Twp. is rated as prime ag land. The picture is of members of thc bank's board of directors who participated in the ceremony. The cornerstone will be opened in 100 years. Members ofthe Board of Directors and leaders of the community participated in cornerstone laying ceremonies at the State Bank of Huntley last Saturday, June 9. The sealed box with laminated artifacts from today will hopefully be opened in 100 years. Inside are many document which will tell whoever opens the box how life was n Huntley during the 20th Century. These documents included some coins, old newspapers, the charter of the 4-H Club and other memorabilia. The flag which flew over the capitol of the United States was flying in honor of this ceremony. In honor of the day, the bank had Mihie the clo^n entettain the child with free ice cream and ballons.
