Huntley Girls Jr.  High Volleyball
Webster dictionary defines the sport "volleyball" as "a team game played by hitting a large ball back and forth over a net with the hands". Now somehow, that definition just doesn't do justice to Huntley Giris Jr. High Volleyball games!
Our Jr. High girls have maintained a game score record of "9 wins - 1 loss" this playing season.
On Sat. April 30th Huntley School will be holding the 1988 Tri-County Volleyball Conference Tournament. The 5th - 6th grade tournament games will be held at Huntley High School. The 7th - 8th grade games will be held at Huntley Elementary School. The tournament games will start at 10 a.m. - with Huntley teams starting at 12 noon.
Keep up the great work, girls - and the best of luck to all of you in the tourna¬ ment games!
This Conference Tournament is open to the public. Refreshments will be sold. Tickets at the door are $1.00 per adult, 50 cents per student, or $3.50 per family. Come on out and cheer our girls on!

Town  Picnic June 26
Mark your calendars! Huntley's Town Picnic will be held in Deieke Park on Sunday, June 26. Lots of activities are being planned including the Miss Huntley PageantI An arts ic crafts show will be held, anyone interested in displaying their handi-work is invited to attend. Confirmation At  St.   Marys
Saturday, April 23, at 2:00 pm.. Bishop O'Neil administered the sacriment of Confirmation to 34 young people of the parish at a special Confirma¬ tion Mass. Girls  State  Tea
Pictured above is May Chesak, Giri State Chairman and the Giris State candidates for 1988 from McHenry County. Those who will be attending Girls State from Huntley are Mary Halat, Sara Matz, Tracy Evans, Jackie Swanson, and alternate Kara Gustafson.
May Chesak, Girls State Chairman from the American Legion Auxilliary hosts an annual tea in order to prepare the Girl Staters from McHenry County for their week long adventure into the American political system.
The girls will learn of the election process, political
conventions, campaigns, and government. They will leam about campus life, living together, and how to appreciate home cooked meals. They will make many new friends and have a wonderful time for a week at the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. In attendance at the tea
were members of the various Legion Auxilliary Units from around the county, the new Girl State candidates and their moms, and many of girls who attended Girl's State .last year and who helped to instruct the new candidates and to prepare them for their adventure into Americanism.
Spring  Musical
Huntley High School students are hard at work, putting the finishing touches on their Spring miisical "Little Miss Christie". This mystery - musical encompasses a 29 member cast. Performances are scheduled for May 5th and 6th at 8 p.m. and May 7th at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are $4.00 for adults and $2.50 for students and senior citizens. They are available at thc High School office or at the door.
McHenry County Salon #483 of 8/40
On March 28, 8/40 Partners met at Dorothy Messer's home in McHenry. All members welcomed Partner Betty Paulin into their fold as she has moved to Mesa, Arizona.
Many toys were collected for children afflicted with respiratory diseases. Donations totaling $686.00 were made to provide scholarships to Camp Superkids.   Subscriptions to "Children's World" were requested for Jewish Hospital.
Our Salon is hoping to reach 100% in Membership before the Departmental Spring Pouvoir which was held April 16 ic 17 in Macomb, 111.  The following Partners attended the Pouvoir, and learn about the adventures of "Children in Wonderland"; lolene Biangardi, Pearl Cooper, Becky Gabel, Marion Karlove, Ariene Mattingly, Mabel Schultz and Cecelia Violett.  Partners endorsed Mabel Schultz as Le Demi Chapeau Premier Departmental.
All Chairman were reminded to complete their reports and send them in before May 1st.
Contributions were also made for "Chessie."  These funds will be provided and forwarded to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
Next meeting will take place April 25th at Lois Haak's home in Wonder Lake. Nominations for new Officers will be made at this meeting.
