Huntley Harvestor's Achievement Night
The Huntley Harvestor's Annual Achievement Night was held November X2th with a Pot Luck Dinner preceeding the awards night. Theresa Becker, President conducted the meeting; pledges were said; introductions of Mary Widloff and Brian Sagar, McHenry County Extension Advisors were made. Dinner was served. Amy Meyer gave a summary of last years 4-H activities. Theresa Becker gave a report on this years planned activities. Carie Bein introduced the Clubs Tour of Projects. Brian Sagar spoke on 4-H Participation. Mary Widolff spoke on the New Recognition for Excellance Program. Tuesday the Huntley fire department was called out to Wabash Data Tech for what was called,a "small fire in the mixing room." The fire was brought under control by the automatic systems and was contained to just the one room, there was one injury to an employee who was transported to the hospital no further information was available at press time.

In a continued show of excellence, two Midwest Academy gymnasts dominated their first appearance in the higher level of Advance Optional (A.O.). At an Optional meet in Elk Grove Dawn Talty, Woodstock, placed Ist AU-Around and placed 3rd on beam (7.35), bars (6.5), and vault (7.25). Teammate
Augie Labarbera, Huntley, held the 2nd place AU-Around taking 2nd on beam (7.4) and bars (6.95) and Sth on floor (7.3) and vault (7.25).
In the Class Ul Optional category Jenny Budelier, Crystal Lake, scored a 7.7 on Vault placing her first and a 7.15 on floor earning 3rd. Cynthi Parker, Woodstock,
placed 1st on floor (7.9) and beam (7.15) and 3rd on Vault (7.55).
Head Coach Betty HamUton commented that the team did extremely well for such an early meet in the season. Both seasons will end in April.

Classes
Early A.M. Fitness: This program is offered 7 d^yo a week, 6:00-8:00 a.m. at the Huntley High School Gym. There is a marked track for walking or jogging, space for free-form exercise and the weight room with specifics for using each piece of equipment. Larry Kahl will be on hand for any assistance. The program continues until March 26. The fee for the entire season is only $25.00! Senior citizens and students are free.
Open Gym - Men's Basket¬ ball: We've tried to make a program to fit your schedule! Now you can come to Huntley High School Gym on either Sundays. 4:30-5:30 or on a week night 7:00-9:00. The fee is $2.00 each time you come, payable at the door ($3.00 for non-residentfl). Sessions begin Thursday, Dec. 3 & Sunday, Dec. 6. Ms. Jag^man at the National Young Leaders Conference
On Tuesday, December Sth, Miss Heather Jagman of Huntley joined approximately 350 outstanding juniors and seniors from across the country at the National Young Leaders Conference. Heather, a student at Huntley High School, has been selected as a Congressional Scholar based on demonstrated academic aachievement, leadership and citizenship.
The theme of the National Young Leaders Conference is "The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today." Throughout the six-day Conference, the Congressional Scholars meet with key government leaders and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media, and the diplomatic corps.
The Legislative Day, The Judicial/Foreign Affairs Day and The Media/Executive Day are the three branches of government.
In a moving experience at Arlington Cemetery, Congressional Scholars lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To culminate the National Young Leaders Conference is the Mock Con¬ gress in which Congressional Scholars assume the roles of representatives by debating, lobbying and voting on pro¬ posed drug testing legisla¬ tion.
The National Young Leaders conference is sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, a non¬ profit, non-partisan educa¬ tional organization. Founded in 1985 by Co-Chairmen Barbara Harris and Richard Rossi, the Council's goal is / to provide a unique "hands-on" experience in civic education. Over 265
