Vocational Education Week Is Observed
Tlie Huntley Higfa Sdiool has uU.ed co<^rative education to the corriculum this year to help prepare our young people for employment. This program provides meaningful work experience combfaied with for¬ mal education to enable tfae students to acquire knowledge, skills, and appropriate work attitudes.
The iM-ograms removes the artifi¬ cial barriers whicfa separate work and education. The school becomes iaaatved witfa the employers and tfais creates a situation whereby tfae needs and problems of both are made known. Through tfais process the students become better trabed to compete in the world of work.
Na^ml Vocational Education Week February 7-13, seems to be ttie most fitting time to let the com- onmity aee some ot the various ocdvities which, are taking place.
We are in the planning stages of setting up a vocaticmal advisory committee to help advise the acbo(d oo relevent oontent and procedure ftr operating a total vocational program In the Htmtley sduxOs.

Huntley Community Credit Union
The Huntley Community Credit Union held it's 20th annual meeting January 28. Twenty sharehrfders were present to hear the reports from die Board of Directors.
Treasurer Earle Johnson reports that 641 people are shareholders. The credit union has assets that total $161,052.45. He also said the organization has $139,269.67 loaned to members in 127 different loans. Interest on the loans produced an Income of $16,842.98. A 4% dividend was declared in 1970 paid semi¬ annually.
The Credit Committee report was given by Irwin Wasserstrass. He reported tfaat 117 loans were made in 1970. "niese loans amounted to $83306.14 of pgw business.
Robert Kraffka, Chainnan of the Supervisory Ownmittee, reported that all audits and account verifications were made. He pointed out that five claims for death benefits were made tlirough the shareholders in¬ surance in the amount of $1824.96. The value of this coverage is mak¬ ing the dividend equivalent to 4%%. The Insurance ahtt% accounts have on dollar of life insurance for each doUar in the share account limited to $1000 for shareholders ages 6 months to 54 years. Huntley To Host Annual Tournament
On Thursday, Feb. lldi the 5tfa & 6tfa grade will start tfae ball roll¬ ing. St. Pat's vs. Woodstock at 6:00 P.M. St. Joes vs. St. Mary's Elgin at 7:00 P.M. and Huntley vs. St. Thomas Moore at 8:00 P.M.
At 9:00 P.M. on Febmary llth St Lawrence 7th & 8th vs. Huntley 7th & 8tfa. On Monday, February I5th at 6:30 the Sth A 6* grade — Hair^whire plays vs. St. Lawrence. St. Joseph 7th ft 8th vs. St. Thomas Moore 7th & 8th at 7:30 and Woodstock vs. Hampshire at 8:30.
On Febmary 16th at 6:30 die first round will be completed by St. Pat's vs. St. Marys of Elgin 7th & 8tfa grade.
At 7:30 winner of the 1st round 5th &6tli grade games — Hamp¬ shire vs. St. Lavmmce & St. Joseph vs. St Mary's Elgin.

In die little 8 Tournament All- Star Team Huntley faired as well as anyone. On the first team for Huntley was "Old Faithful" Tom Kaisow. He was accompanied by Dick Harolle of Genoa, Tom Shatters of Hampshire, Fred Awe of Central and Skip Tegman of Hampshiie.
Named as Most Valuable Player was Skip Tegtman of Hampsliire. The High Scorer for the Little 8 tournament was Tom Kaisow, who netted 61 points.
The Second All-Star team con¬ sisted of Ray Mills, Central, Glen Borhart HunUey, Jerry Reynols, Mooseheart • Rick Griswold, Genoa and Dave Eberiy, Hampshire.
Honorable mention included the foUowing people: Bob Greenlee — Genoa Randy Brunswick — Richmond Jim Norgard — Hebron Rich Befarens — Central Ted Lyons — Hampshfare Luther Hitzenroth — Central Mike Lawrence — Hiawatha Darwin Campbell — Huntley.

iTie Board of Education for Himt¬ ley Dist 158 will hold the regular monthly meeting February Sth at 7:45 P.M.
Committee reports will be heard, bills will be presented for payment.
Under Old Business a nevlew of Insurance Specificadons will be made.
New Business win include a dis¬ cussion of staff needs for 71-72 year. Junior Higfa Library needs will also be reviewed.

Little 8 Tournment Won By Hampshire
The Litde 8 tournament held at Genoa-Kingston was not as success¬ ful as one could hope for. In the first game between the Redskins and the Hiawatha Hawks, our Red¬ skins started slowly and were los¬ ing at half time, but "Old Faithful'* Tom Kaisow led the Redskins back to a victory. The 66-56 defeat of the Hawks gave the skins a chance to continue in the Tournament.
The second game was against the tall and powerful Central Rockets. Central grabbed a 19-11 first quar¬ ter lead and led all the way. Central showed good scoring balance with 5 men in double figures. For the Redskins, Tom Kaisow led nil scorers with 25 points while Glen Boriiart medied 12 and Darwui Campbell chipped ui 10. Tlie 66-83 lost still leaves the Redskins a chance for third {dace.
In the game for third place Genoa-Kingston drc^iped Huntley 69-53. The Cogs had to play catch np ban, as tfae Redskins led at half 33-27. However, the Cogs came to life and the Redskins died as Genoa outscored the Skins 27-10 and 15-10.
Tom Kaisow and Glen Bortiart led the attack witfa 14 pc^ts each.
In tfae Cham[rfonship game the Hampshire Whippers left no doubt wfao was No. 1 as they trounced tfae Central Rockets 82-68.

JANUARY PARK BOARD
The regular meeting of tfae Hunt¬ ley Park District Board was faeld on Wednesday. January 27tft, 1971 at 8:25 p.m. Upon roll call those present were Commissioners Mac¬ keben, Parisek and Piske, with com¬ missioners Deicke and Ream absent.
The President asked for the read¬ ing of die minutes of the previous meeting of 12-18-70 after wfaich a motion was made by Mr. Piske, seconded by Mr. Parisek to approve the minutes a.s read. Upon roU call all commissionem voted aye and the motion carried.
The treasurers report was then presented showing a balance in tfae checking account of $14,089.99. A motion was made by Mr. Mackeben, seconded by Mr. Piske to approve the r^iort as read. Upon roll call all commissioners voted aye and the rcpoBt was approved and filed for audit.
At this time President Piske tumed over to the board, a dieck received as a donation frran James & Shirley Dhamer, in lieu of send¬ ing Christmas cards. The donation is to be applied to use as tibe board sees fit The board greatfuUy ac¬ cepted the Dhamers Ifaougfatful dona¬ tion.
The President then presented tfae monthly bills for payment. Mr. Pari¬ sek made a motion, secooded by Mr. Piske, that all bills lie approved for payment as presented. Upon roU call all cotnmissioners voted aye and the motion carried.

The existing directors, Walter Burmeister, Jofan Rugb, Leon Ol¬ haber, Earle Johnson and Wayne Miller were re-elected for the com¬ ing year.
