Fire at Pete Swanson Farm
On Monday, Septenib&r lat, Huntley Firemen responded to a firo at the Clayton "Pete" Swanson farm on Swanson Road, Firemen were summonetl by the civil dof ense siren as the fire occurred at 11:-"in five minutes before the noon whLsHc was to be soundetl. Firemen exting¬ uished tho blaze within 30 minutes using \W hose, tlio semi4r;iiler water tank and a portaJtank. Priov ¦to having the big tanker the Swan¬ son house prob^rtibVy would have burnt to the groimd as firemen would hswe been forced to use %" h«so to keep from running out of water. 1>4" hose delivers 3 times the a- mount of water as ^i" hose, Chjef Freund stated.
The tanker filled the I50O gallon porta tank with water which wa,s pumped into fhe fire truck. The fire department hopes to purchase another porta tank when funds ane available. This will enable tbe large tanker, donated by Deans Food Ccmpai^ early this year, to return to Hmitey for refiiQing lea\^fi 3,000 gallons of water behind for use in its absetioe.
At one iwint an IW hose broke, sending a stream of water which krinkled a mailbox at the unoccup¬ ied farm.
At 6 p.m. that evenfeig, the fire leignHed and the firement had to pot out the blaze.

The investigation is StiU pending as Huntley police are issuing a warrant for an adult aocomplke. The evidence will be impounded by, police until the trial.

Kathy of Sandiwald Road is the dai^liitcr <rf Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meyer. She is 19 years okl and a gradeuate of Huntley High School. Kathey was a member of the School Band, Color Guard, end G.A.A. Volleyball team and tiowliiag team. She was the first giri member of the Huntley F.F.A. Chapter. As a member she served on many com¬ mittees, chaired some oommitlees, and oamed many trophies and cred¬ its for her chapter. The Lion's Qub Glaucoma mobile was ini Huntley on Friday, Aug. 22nd, testing residents for this eye defect. A total of 53 residents took ad¬ vantage of thds free screendng serv¬ ice. Out of this number 3 possibly have this disease and will need further testing. The Hunitley Lions
club presented the Glaucoma mo¬ bile with a check for $250.00 te further their work.
Glaucoma is a disease ol the eyes, padiedly heredJhaiy, which can oause blindness if not detected. If found it can be oontnoUed.

Beckio also has taken piano and voice at McHenry County Ool¬ iege. Sie has been a member of High School Chorus, Madrigito, and Girls' Track.
