FOOTBALL COACH GLEN DELANEY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR LANtELAMB MANAGER « TREATMENT PLANT GROUNDBREAKING On Wednesday, September 15, 1976. the Village of Huntley will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the Sewer Treatment Plant at 4:.')() P.M. Don Schwegel from Baxter and Woi :lman, engineers for the village, stated thaf work has begun on renovating this structure which was built in 1950. At present the plant's Capacity is .25 million gallons of water a day. When work is completed the capacity w-ill be increased to .28 million gallons of water a day. Mr. .Schwegel said that a reten¬ tion pond and a new lab will be added to the current structure. He stated that they plan to replace .sewer pipes throughout the Village which will take care of the excess water from storms. The contractor for the work is the Illinois Hydralic Construction Company of Elgin. The cost of the project will be $1,167,700 of that the State of Illinois will pay $875,800. Completion is expected in a- bout a vear. NOTICE There will be a meeting Sep¬ tember 16th at 8 PM in the High School Library of the Organiza¬ tion Meeting for the referendum committee for the area vocational center. Interested? Please attend! SCHOOL BOARD MEETING The regular monthly meeting for September will be at 7:45 P.M. September 13th. LOCAL BOY WINS DEPARTMENT AWARD Timothy Swanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred (Tom) Swanson has been presented the second place award from the Department of Illinois American Legion Auxiliary for his entry in the Annual Americanism Essay Contest. Tim's essay was titled "If we have another two hundred years." More than 30,000 essays were entered in Class 11 of this contest. Tim received the unit award for winning first place, also the district award and the Division First Place Award was captured by Tim. This contest is open annually to students in the Seventh Grade through Grade Twelve. It enables the youth Of our country to express their thoughts as well as their patriotism. Anyone wishing for further information may contact Mrs. Robert Schultz, Americanism Chairman for Huntley Unit #673. Essay rules for the 1977 contest are out and at the School. Huntley Unit 673 congratulates Tim on his awards and wish for him as well as other students in the community sDccess in earning the Dp coming awards on the 1977 contest. , NOTICE OF CHANGE OF ELECTION Due to a legal technicality regarding the length of time required to give public notice prior to an election, the special election for the Huntley Fire Protection District has been chan¬ ged from this Saturday, Sep¬ tember llth to Saturday, October 16th. The polling place will be at the Fire Station located at 14 Coral Street, Huntley, Illinois. The polls open from 6 AM to 6 PM. The purpose of the election is to decide whether or not the Huntley Rescue Squad will continue to exist as an ambulance service for the district. If the referendum is defeated, the rescue vehicles will be sold and the squad is disbanded. Water will be supplied to the village by the auxiliary pumps. This will mean that the water running in Huntley mains will be reversed. This could result in the discoloration of the water from sedement itt the pipes. Residents are warned to plan accordingly. Village Street Dept.
