The highlight of the mee'ing was the hiring of h Chief of Police. The PoUc,. C.omm.ittee had reviewed sev¬ eral candidates for the position. After a lengthy execuftive session, the Board voted to hire William Otto Friedl to fill the po¬ sition. Mr. Ralph Ooleman and Mr. Brian ColeSTtan were present at the meet, ing, the board had stated thiat they ¦would dSscuss the pos>siWlity of ellniinattng the 4 a.m. liquor license in theVillaRC of Hontley Pinecrest Golf CouTise and Colemans Tavern are the only two e.staWishments who purchased the more expensive liccn.s(.>. The Colemans pi^sented a petition with 100 pigr«tures from residents of the Village and people who work in town ni favor of keep¬ ing the 4 a.m. Hcense. The Board voted u> table the matter at the December meeting. The Board passed the sidewalk ordinance which will require resi¬ dents on certain streets within the HlBii^ir (o pface wiewaUB in front 0* theb- property. Huntley Fireworks Case Continued The case Involving Anthony T. Cartolano, owner of the Melrose Fireworks Com^bny located in Hunt. ley was postponed by Judfte Leonand Brody until Jaji. 10. In the hearing Dec. 5 Simon Stick- gold, Ottolano's lawyer moved to surpress evidence in a criminal case aUeg:ing unlawful aaie of I^reworta to McHenry County undercover de¬ puties because the evidence was se- curet in an urdawful manner. The amount of the purchase wMch the deputies are alleged to have made is $12.00. The date of the sale is Jane 1973 after tlie Tireworks plant was closed June l-^tfa by the Sherift on a complaint that fireworics were beii^ unlawfuUy exploded.
